Delivery devices for a stented prosthetic heart valve. The delivery device includes a spindle, at least one cord, and a covering feature associated with the spindle for selectively covering at least a portion of a stented prosthetic heart valve tethered to the spindle in a delivery state. In some embodiments, the covering feature includes a tip mounted to the spindle. The tip can include an overhang region for selectively covering a portion of the stented prosthetic heart valve. In other embodiments, the tip can include a tip body and a compressible foam bumper. In yet other embodiments, the covering feature includes an outer sheath arranged to selectively cover the stented prosthetic heart valve. The outer sheath can be elastic and stretchable for recapturing a partially expanded prosthesis, for example by including one or more windows covered by a stretchable covering layer.

Numerous delivery devices for delivery of a stented prosthesis, such as a stented prosthetic heart valve. Various delivery devices include a capsule that is advanced proximally to retain the stented prosthesis, which is secured over an inner shaft assembly of the delivery device. The delivery device further includes a bumper or bumper assembly to provide a smooth transition of the capsule over the stented prosthesis. In some alternate disclosed embodiments, the bumper further serves to connect various elements of the inner shaft assembly. Additional embodiments include a bumper assembly arranged and configured to longitudinally expand and contract to substantially fill any open space as the capsule is retracted from the stented prosthesis, which prevents kinking in the capsule. Additional embodiments include proximal and/or distal bumpers for temporarily covering and smoothing the ends of the stented prosthesis as part of a delivery device that does not include a capsule.

Features for a restraint to facilitate delivery and deployment of an implantable cardiac device are described. The restraint may include a series of circumferential engagements for securing inwardly corresponding portions of the implant. The restraint may be located inside the implant and provide a radially inward force on the implant. The restraint may include a center shaft having a series of grooves configured to cooperate with corresponding splines of the implant. Distal or proximal advance of the restraint disengages the restraint from the implant. The implant may include a tubular frame configured to contract and be secured by the restraint in a contracted configuration and to expand upon disengagement from the restraint. The restraint may provide for a smaller overall cross-sectional profile of a transcatheter delivery system, for instance by negating the need for a distal delivery sheath.

Features for a restraint, such as a cap, are described. The restraint secures a cardiac device in a collapsed, delivery configuration for transcatheter delivery to a heart. The restraint may have a tubular sidewall extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a proximal opening defined by the sidewall at the proximal end and a channel defined by the sidewall and extending distally from the proximal opening. The restraint is configured to receive the implant in the collapsed configuration through the proximal opening to radially restrain the implant within the channel. The restraint eliminates the need for a surrounding sheath, reducing the delivery profile and size of the overall delivery system, among other advantages. The restraint may have an atraumatic leading edge to reduce the risk of injury to the patient.

Deployment restraint and delivery system for implantable cardiac device

Systems, devices and methods related to various heart valve implants and for delivery of those implants are described. The implants may be used to re-size a native valve annulus or to replace a native heart valve. The implants include a re-sizable frame having angled struts. The implant is secured to tissue with anchors that can rotate without axial advancement to engage tissue while drawing the implant closer to the tissue. Collars are used to decrease the angle between struts of a frame to contract the implant. The implants can include a rotatable shaft, such as a threaded shaft, located internally to an axially translatable collar. Rotation of the shaft transmits force to the collar to cause the collar to translate axially, closing the angle of adjacent struts and decreasing the width of the implant and thus of the annulus. The implants can be delivered, secured and contracted via a catheter. The implants are repositionable and retrievable via catheter.

According to an aspect, an inflatable penile prosthesis includes an inflatable member, a reservoir configured to hold fluid, and a pump assembly configured to facilitate a transfer of the fluid from the reservoir to the inflatable member when the prosthesis is in an inflation mode and facilitate a transfer of the fluid from the inflatable member to the reservoir when the prosthesis is in a deflation mode. The pump assembly includes a pump, a valve body having a first valve and a second valve, and a selection member defining a lumen, the selection member being movable from a first position to place the prosthesis in the inflation mode and a second position to place the prosthesis in the deflation mode.

Embodiments of a surgical laser systems may include a laser source configured to generate a laser energy; a laser fiber optically coupled to the laser source to discharge laser energy; a photodetector configured to generate an output signal indicative of an intensity level of electromagnetic energy feedback produced in response to the discharge of the laser energy; and a controller configured to control the laser source based on the output signal. Embodiments of a method of controlling a surgical laser system also are disclosed, wherein laser energy is generated using a laser source and discharged through a laser fiber. Electromagnetic energy feedback produced in response to discharging the laser energy is delivered to a photodetector. An output signal from the photodetector is analyzed using a controller. The laser source is controlled in response to analyzing an output signal using the controller.

A segmented bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and having a first state in which at least a portion of the body is flexible and a second state in which the body is generally rigid. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a segmented fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of the fixation device in a flexible state on one side of the fracture, providing rigidity across the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Various configurations allow a segmented device body to change shape as it moves from a flexible state to a rigid state.

A straight intramedullary bone fracture fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis for deployment in a long bone, such as a clavicle. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a bone fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of an elongate body of the fixation device on one side of the fracture and at least a portion of a hub on another side of the fracture, and engaging an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Various configurations and designs may be used in combination with other fixation device components.

A bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and having a first state in which at least a portion of the body is flexible and a second state in which the body is generally rigid, an actuateable gripper disposed at a distal location on the elongated body, and an actuator operably connected to the gripper to deploy the gripper from a retracted configuration to an expanded configuration. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a bone fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of an elongate body of the fixation device in a flexible state on one side of the fracture and at least a portion of a hub on another side of the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy at least one gripper of the fixation device to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone.
