This disclosure generally describes a system for warming an area surrounding a control element for controlling operation of an associated machine or device. The system can include a heating element that can warm air in and around the heating element when actuated, a blower unit that can be in fluid communication with the heating element and that can generate a flow of the warm air when the heating element and the blower unit are actuated, and a forearm extension unit that can channel the flow of the warm air from the blower unit to warm a user's forearm when the user uses an associated machine or device to which the forearm extension unit is attached. The associated machine or device can be a wheelchair.

Heated joystick

In some implementations, a joystick includes a control unit having a first surface and a handle positioned at an angle adjacent to the first surface. The handle can have a second surface and is operably connected to the control unit. The joystick can further include a heating element, a blower, and one or more vent openings in at least one of the first surface and the second surface. The blower can move air warmed by the heating element through the at least one vent opening.

In some implementations, a joystick includes a control unit having a first surface and a handle positioned at an angle adjacent to the first surface. The handle can have a second surface and is operably connected to the control unit. The joystick can further include a heating element, a blower, one or more vent openings in at least one of the first surface and the second surface, and a power source. The blower can move air warmed by the heating element through the at least one or more of the vent openings.

A multilayer absorbent bandage and process for making the same having two absorbent layers separated by a grid material and covered on one side by an exterior layer which contacts the wound surface and on the other side by a moisture resistant barrier. The bandage is designed to maintain its structural integrity while being capable of absorbing large amounts of fluid.

Multilayer absorbent structure

A process for specially treating the surfaces of absorbent fibrous surgical products such as towels, surgical drapes and the like. After the subject treatment, the products formed can be folded, stacked and packaged without appreciable fiber entanglement developing between contiguous surfaces of the products. Importantly, the products can be subjected to sterilizing radiation while folded in their package, and may thereafter be readily unfolded without sticking or blocking as might otherwise result from the exposure to sterilizing radiation.

Releasable surgical products and process of formation thereof

A surgical procedure and apparatus therefor wherein a patient to be operated on is first wrapped with a plastic film sheet which is adhesively sealed to the patient's body remote from an operating area on the body, and is also sealed against an incision site on the body at the operating area. A sterilized atmosphere is provided beneath the film sheet for contacting the patient's skin. Another sterilized atmosphere is provided within a region substantially adjacent the body including the incision site, thereby enabling a surgeon to cut through the film sheet and into the patient's body with minimal risk of infection. Extensive and costly operating room sterilization procedures are thus significantly reduced, and patient comfort, as well as treatment, can be enhanced by controlling the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere provided beneath the film sheet.
