A method and an apparatus are provided for protecting a secured space. The method includes the steps of providing a secured space including a first secured area and a second secured area accessed through the first secured area, wherein the second secured area has a relatively higher security level than the first secured area, controlling access into each of the first and second secured areas via at least one access controller, and deactivating a portion of the at least one access controller in accordance with a predetermined event and a security level.

A system including at least one sensor capable of indicating the physiological presence an individual proximate thereto, an access control unit associated with the sensor that provides physiological access to a secure area and control circuits coupled to the at least one sensor, and the unit and responsive thereto to adjust a security level and alarm state in a selected region of the secure area.

System and method for adjusting a security level and signaling alarms in controlled areas

A wireless access apparatus for controlling access into a secure area comprises a first power source and a second power source. A controller automatically switches between the first and second power source based at least on a calculated power level of the first and second power source. The controller is connected to either the first or the first and second power source based on the switching. The access apparatus includes a switch having a first position for connecting the first power source to the controller and a second position for connecting second power source to the controller and an electromechanical transducer coupled to the controller for unlocking or locking an entrance into the secure area. The controller determines access to the secure area using information received from an access card.

Hybrid access control system and method for controlling the same

A system for controlling access to a secure area includes a lock and an electronic access device for controlling access to a secure area. The lock includes pins for locking and unlocking the lock. The access device communicates with the pins for electrically measuring movement of the pins. The access device stores an unlock pin code for the predetermined position of the pins for unlocking the lock. The electronic access device electrically measures pin movement by a key. A control device electrically communicates with the electronic access device for determining when a lock compromising technique has occurred to identify a lock tamper event.

A system for controlling access to a secure area includes a lock and an electronic access device for controlling access to a secure area. The lock includes pins for locking and unlocking the lock. The access device communicates with the pins for electrically measuring movement of the pins. The access device stores an unlock pin code for the predetermined position of the pins for unlocking the lock. The electronic access device electrically measures pin movement by a key and determines a key code for the key from the pin movement. A control device electrically communicates with the electronic access device for identifying the key code and determining when the key code matches the unlock pin code.
