Disclosed is a compound of the formula wherein Rand Reach, independently of the other, are hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, Rand Reach, independently of the other, are hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, provided that at least one of Rand Ris other than hydrogen, and R, R, R, R, and Reach, independently of the others, are alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, alkylaryl, or a substituent other than hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, wherein in each case alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl may or may not be substituted and may or may not have hetero atoms therein, and wherein two or more of R, R, R, R, and Rcan be joined together to form a ring.

Colorant compounds

Phase change ink comprising carrier and colorant of formula wherein Rand Reach, independently, are hydrogen, alkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkyl, aryl, including substituted and hetero-containing aryl, arylalkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkylaryl; Rand Reach, independently, are hydrogen, provided at least one of Rand Ris other than hydrogen, alkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkyl, aryl, including substituted and hetero-containing aryl, arylalkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkylaryl; R, R, R, R, and Reach, independently, are alkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkyl, aryl, including substituted and hetero-containing aryl, arylalkyl, including substituted and hetero-containing arylalkyl, alkylaryl, including substituted and hetero-containing alkylaryl, or a substituent other than hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl; wherein two or more of R, R, R, R, and Rcan be joined together to form a ring.

Phase change inks

A perimidine coupler of formula 1: where R and R' are substituents independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, Cto Calkyl or a solubilizing moiety comprising a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Chydrocarbyl group. At least one of R and R&#x2032; is not a hydrogen atom or Cto Calkyl. R&#x2033; and R&#x2032;&#x2033; can be independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, Cto Calkyl groups and halogens.
