A system and method are disclosed for a precision variable-focus telescope that includes a telescope housing containing an optical system; a gap pad including a first side and a second side, wherein the first side of the gap pad is attached to the telescope housing; a heat spreader including a first side and a second side, wherein the heat spreader is contiguous with the telescope housing and wherein the second side of the heat spreader is attached to the second side of the gap pad; a temperature-sensing device connected to the first side of the heat spreader; and an electric-film heater including a first side and a second side, wherein the second side of the electric-film heater is attached to the first side of the heat spreader.

System and method for a precision variable focus telescope

An optical apparatus to provide several light bands on a single coaligned beam line or axis. The apparatus generally comprises five main components: a pump, a fold mirror, an input coupler, a nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, and an output coupler. Alternatively, the present invention may comprise four main components, namely, a pump, an acute porro prism, a NLO crystal, and an input-output coupler. The pump input beam makes two passes through the nonlinear optical crystal and generates two new colors, having different wavelengths, during each pass through the nonlinear optical crystal.

Five-wave optical parametric oscillator with V-ring geometry

Techniques and structure are disclosed for implementing a spatial walk-off compensation mechanism having an integral tilt function. In some embodiments, the mechanism may comprise a tilt-ball mount having an integrated walk-off compensation medium. In some embodiments, the mechanism may be configured to receive an output beam from a non-linear converter (e.g., optical parametric oscillator or OPO) implementing a non-linear medium comprising a bi-refringent material (e.g., zinc germanium phosphide, or ZnGeP; cadmium silicon phosphide, or CdSiP). In some embodiments, the walk-off compensation medium may comprise the same material and/or have the same cut as the non-linear medium. In some embodiments, the mechanism may be manually and/or mechanically adjusted/repositioned to reduce beam walk-off and/or to more precisely direct the beam. In some embodiments, the mechanism may be implemented in mid-infrared (MIR) applications. Numerous configurations and variations will be apparent in light of this disclosure.
