A multi-functional, portable device for use in situations where electricity is not available or convenient is disclosed. A portable safety device includes a power charger and air compressor that may safely jump start a vehicle and recharge portable electronic devices, such as phones and laptop computers, as well as inflate vehicle tires or other inflatable objects, when a standard external power source is not convenient. It may also be used for providing an emergency light source.

A portable charger capable of jump starting a 12 V car battery includes a charger battery, a jump start circuit operatively electrically connected with the charger battery and with an ignition power outlet, and a microcontroller for coordinating safety functions to establish or interrupt the operative electrical connection of the jump start circuit with the ignition power outlet. The ignition power outlet comprises a positive power socket, a negative power socket, a positive sensing socket and a negative sensing socket. The sensing sockets are electrically isolated from the power sockets, and the microcontroller senses voltage across the sensing sockets and is configured to interrupt the operative electrical connection of the jump start circuit to the ignition power outlet until proper voltage is sensed across the sensing sockets.

A car charger interface, adapted for connection with a car charger socket, is connected to an electronic device or portable charger unit and movable between an extended condition for use and a retracted condition for storage. The interface has a generally flat shape when not in use and can be unfolded to a shape adapted for complementary connection with the car charger socket for use. The interface comprises a first portion and a second portion movable relative to one another between folded and unfolded conditions. The second portion may comprise wings pivotally connected along the first portion for pivoting to an unfolded position projecting from the first portion to form a generally X-shaped adapter body. Alternately, the second portion may be positioned at the longitudinal end of the first portion and connected thereto via a pivot point at the central longitudinal axis thereof for pivotal movement.

A portable power charger is provided for charging an electronic device from a rechargeable battery internally disposed within the charger. An attachment system is also provided for connecting the electronic device to the portable charger and maintaining the connection during charging, whether by wireless means or by direct charging connection. The attachment system can also ensure that respective wireless transmission components in the portable charger and the electronic device, where available, are properly aligned for optimal and efficient wireless charging. The alignment system can comprise an arrangement of magnets on each of the portable charger and the electronic device, whereby said magnets are geometrically arrangement is spaced apart relationship to one another. The alignment system may alternatively comprise a sticky pads, suction cups or hook-and-loop fasteners to physical attach the electronic device to the portable charger.

A compact, decorative and multi-functional portable power charger and cable apparatus includes a portable charger unit with a housing where the housing encloses an internal rechargeable battery unit for connecting to and recharging one or more electronic devices, and a charging cable extending from the charger housing and in operative communication with the rechargeable battery. At least the charger housing is surrounded by an aesthetic feature, which can comprise a tasseled fitting, a puffball, a luggage tag, or a doll or teddy bear to hide the charger unit. Electrical fittings including power connection interfaces for connecting the charger and cable apparatus with at least one electronic device, or an external power source, or both, can be provided on the charging cable and also hidden by the aesthetic feature. The power charger and cable apparatus can be attached to a fashion accessory, such as a purse, a bag, luggage or clothing.

A compact portable power charger having an internal rechargeable battery is provided with a wall plug interface and a car charger interface selectively and independently connected to the charger as power input interfaces for recharging the internal battery when the charger is connected to respective external power sources via the interfaces. Each interface is pivotably movable between an extended position where the interface projects outwardly away from the charger housing for use and a retracted position for storage of the interface within a respective cavity formed in the charger housing. The charger further includes a power output interface, such as a power connection port, operatively connected to the internal battery for providing an electrical charge from the internal battery to an electronic device when the electronic device is connected to the charger via the power output interface.

A portable power charger is provided for charging one or more electronic devices using wireless power transmission components, such as a transmitter and a receiver for recharging the charger as well as electronic devices via wireless power transmission methods. At least one generally flat surface is provided on the charger housing for receiving and preferably holding an electronic device in place for wireless charging of the device. The portable charger unit may also include at least one power connection for connecting the charger with an external power source, or at least one electronic device, or both, for direct charge connectivity. The power connection can be a power connection port or a power connector cable, attached to the charger housing, each capable of acting as a power input, a power output, or both. A processing unit controls operation of the charger unit for wireless and direct charging.
