The present invention relates to the use of melatonin or analogues thereof in a composition as an agent for stabilizing hydrophilic gelling polymers. The invention relates more particularly to cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions for topical use.

A cosmetic skin-cleansing mask composition which contains, as its principal cleansing constituent, graded or calibrated spheroidal polyamide particles which are dispersed in an aqueous gel, the particles being present in an amount greater than or equal to 12% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition. These particles impart to the composition a texture and qualities which are close to those of a cream.
