A stable cosmetic emulsion of the oil-in-water type contains an aqueous phase, an oily phase, and an emulsifier, with the oily phase containing at least one silicone oil and the emulsifier being a polyoxyethylenated polyorganosiloxane with the following formula: ##STR1## The stable emulsion is especially desirable in the fields of cosmetics and dermatology, particularly in creams, lotions, and makeup products.

A solid, transparent or translucent non-alcoholic cosmetic gel contains 65 to 99 weight percent of a polyol, 0.1 to 5 weight percent of a dibenzylidene-ose, 0.1 to 5 weight percent of a hardening agent of the sulfosuccinate type and 0.5 to 40 weight percent of water. The gel is employed in makeup products.
