Methods and systems for managing operation of endpoint devices are disclosed. To manage the operation of endpoint devices, a management framework may be used. The management framework may allow users to define desired outcomes for operation of endpoint devices. Once defined, the management framework may supplement the desired outcomes with additional context. The desired outcomes and additional context may be used to determine how to configure the endpoint devices. For example, applications for deployment to the endpoint devices may be identified and confirmed with the requestors via use of the management framework.

Techniques are directed to detecting an abnormal event while data storage equipment is in transit. Such techniques involve receiving a series of sensor signals from a set of sensors affixed to the data storage equipment. The series of sensor signals identifies a series of positional integrity measurements for the data storage equipment while the data storage equipment is in transit. Such techniques further involve performing a series of comparison operations that compares the series of positional integrity measurements to a set of range. Such techniques further involve, based on the series of comparison operations, providing an abnormal event signal in response to a particular positional integrity measurement falling outside a corresponding range of the set of ranges.

The multi-path layer maintains separate device identities for the respective source and target logical storage devices in conjunction with the migration session but presents a corresponding composite device having a single device identity to one or more applications executing on the host device. The multi-path layer translates one or more commands directed to the composite device in the first access protocol to one or more commands in the second access protocol.

A technique is directed to transporting data storage equipment. The technique involves electronically activating monitoring circuitry which is co-located with the data storage equipment. The technique further involves, based on the location data, performing a set of location evaluation operations to determine whether the data storage equipment is on course along a predefined route between the first ground location and the second ground location.

The one or more criteria may include a first criterion identifying a first amount of data change that has to occur with respect to the storage resource. Notification may be received regarding an occurrence of a first of the one or more trigger conditions. Responsive to receiving the notification, the first processing may be performed by the data protection service.

There are disclosed computer-implemented methods, apparatus, and computer program products for scheduling snapshots. In one embodiment, the method comprises the following steps. The method comprises receiving performance data relating to a data storage system. The method also comprises determining, based on the performance data, a time for performing a snapshot of data stored on the data storage system. The method further comprises scheduling the snapshot according to the time.

The technique involves monitoring usage of the pool of slices provided by the data storage equipment, and generating an estimate based on the monitored usage of the pool of slices. The estimate identifies when a slice usage level of the pool of slices will reach a predefined usage level (e.g., the number of days remaining before the pool will become completely full, 90% full, 80% full, etc.). The technique further involves, in response to the estimate reaching a predefined threshold (e.g., when the number of days remaining is 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, etc.), performing a remedial activity to prevent full consumption of the pool of slices.

A technique provides data high availability to a set of host computers. The technique involves, while a production array provides the set of host computers with access to a production logical unit of storage (LUN), replicating data from the production LUN to a replicated LUN on a replication array. The technique further involves, after replicating at least some of the data from the production LUN to the replicated LUN, electronically detecting a production array deficiency. The technique further involves, in response to electronically detecting the production array deficiency, automatically performing, by electronic circuitry, a failover operation which (i) terminates providing the set of host computers with access to the production LUN and (ii) provides the set of host computers with access to the replicated LUN on the replication array.
