The use of induced condensing agent (ICA) in fluidized bed gas phase reactor systems enables higher production rates but can affect the resulting polyolefins melt index. The effect the increased ICA concentration may have on a melt index may be counteracted, if necessary, by altering the concentration of olefin monomer within the reactor system.

Methods of controlling polyolefin melt index

The catalyst productivity of a polyolefin catalyst in the methods disclosed herein may be increased by increasing the concentration of an induced condensing agent (ICA) in the reactor system. The effect the increased ICA concentration may have on a melt index may be counteracted, if necessary, in various ways.

Methods of controlling polyolefin melt index while increasing catalyst productivity

A method of polymerizing olefins with catalyst systems, such as, for example, a multimodal catalyst system, wherein the catalyst system is stored at a controlled temperature to minimize loss of catalyst system productivity.

Catalyst systems and polymerization processes

A method for preparing a spray dried catalyst and a low viscosity, low foam spray dried catalyst system for olefin polymerization are provided. In one aspect, the method includes preparing a catalyst system including one or more components selected from metallocenes, non-metallocenes, and activators, adding mineral oil to the catalyst system to form a slurry, and adding one or more liquid alkanes having three or more carbon atoms to the slurry in an amount sufficient to reduce foaming and viscosity of the slurry. In one aspect, the catalyst system includes one or more catalysts selected from metallocenes, non-metallocenes, and a combination thereof, wherein the catalyst system is spray dried. The system further includes mineral oil to form a slurry including a catalyst system, and one or more liquid alkanes having three or more carbon atoms in an amount sufficient to reduce foaming and viscosity of the slurry.

De-foaming spray dried catalyst slurries

A bimodal polyethylene composition that includes ethylene-derived units, and, optionally, one or more other olefin-derived units, wherein the bimodal polyethylene composition possesses a density of at least 0.940 g/cc, an average molecular weight (Mw) of from 200,000 to 370,000, a z-average molecular weight (Mz) of from 1,500,000 to 3,400,000 Daltons, and a z+1 average molecular weight (Mz+1) of from 2,500,000 to 6,800,000 Daltons, is provided in various embodiments. Bimodal polyethylene compositions for blow molding applications

A process for the production of an ionic transition metal catalyst in supported form than is highly productive under gas phase olefin polymerization conditions. In the process a an aluminum alkyl is added to a suitable solvent after which a neutral metallocene compound is added to the solution under stirring in a quantity that provides for a ratio of Al to transition metal of at least 25:1. To this metallocene-aluminum alkyl solution is next added an ionic compound the anionic portion of which is a non-coordinating anion under stirring until all materials are dissolve. The ionic compound is added in a quantity that provides for a ratio of NCA to transition metal of at least 1:1. Next the support particles are added to the solution and thereafter the solution is heated to at least 40&deg; C. and held at this elevated temperature for at least 0.5 hour. Thereafter the solvent is removed and the supported catalyst is dried under vacuum.

Method for producing highly productive supported ionic catalyst for gas phase polymerization

The invention provides a process for reducing the low molecular weight oligomer content of olefin polymers produced by metallocene catalysis wherein at least one organometallic compound is fed continuously into the reactor during polymerization. The organometallic compound has the formula R A, wherein A is a Periodic Table Group 12 or 13 element. R is the same or different, substituted or unsubstituted, straight or branched chain alkylradical, cyclic hydrocarbyl radical, alkyl-cyclohydrocarbyl radical, aromatic radical or alkoxide radical and n is 2 or 3, to form a polymer product having a content of said compound of at least about 50 weight ppm.
