Various implementations include sleep aiding in-ear audio devices. Certain implementations include sleep aiding in-ear audio devices with a noise-reduction finish, along with methods of applying a noise reduction finish to an in-ear audio device. In some cases, a sleep aiding in-ear audio device includes: a set of earbuds, each earbud having: an eartip for mating with an ear of a user; and a housing coupled with the eartip, the housing containing an electro-acoustic transducer for providing an audio output to the user via the eartip, where when inserted in the ear of the user, substantially all of an exposed surface of the earbud is finished with a matte coating.

Various implementations include earbud cases with a Hall effect sensor configured to aid in detecting whether the case is open or closed. Certain additional implementations include a holder for a Hall effect sensor in an earbud case. In some particular aspects, a case for a set of earbuds includes: a top section including a set of magnets; and a base section movably coupled with the top section, the base section having: an upper compartment including a set of slots for holding the earbuds; and a lower compartment, having: a printed circuit board (PCB); a holder coupled with the PCB; and a Hall effect sensor coupled with holder, wherein the holder separates the Hall effect sensor from the PCB.

Earbud

An earphone with a first acoustic cavity, a second acoustic cavity, and an electro-acoustic transducer configured to deliver acoustic energy into the first and second acoustic cavities. A port acoustically couples one of the first and second acoustic cavities to a different volume. The port comprises an opening with a mesh structure that is insert molded into the port.

An ear tip for an earpiece including a body having first and second ends, an inner wall extending between the first and second ends to define a hollow passage to conduct sound waves, and an outer wall connected to the inner wall of the body at the first end and tapering away from the inner wall toward the second end. The ear tip further includes one or more protrusions arranged on an inner surface of the outer wall, wherein the one or more protrusions has a varying thickness between the first and second ends.

An assembly, and methods of fabricating the assembly. The assembly has an electrical cable that has a number of separate conductors, a bundle of cable reinforcing strands, and an outer jacket surrounding all of the conductors and the bundle. The conductors and the bundle protrude from an end of the outer jacket. A stopper element surrounds the end of the outer jacket and the portions of the conductors and bundle where they protrude from the outer jacket. Distal ends of the conductors and the bundle protrude from the stopper element. The distal end of the bundle that protrudes from the stopper element is divided into multiple protruding bundle portions, and a first protruding bundle portion is wrapped at least partly around the stopper element in one direction and a second protruding bundle portion is wrapped at least partly around the stopper element in another direction.
