Methods and compositions that may be used to prevent the water from coming to the surface or otherwise interfering with the production of hydrocarbons are provided. An embodiment of the present disclosure is a method comprising: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid, a polymer, a metal-based crosslinker, and an amino alkylene phosphonate; and introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore that penetrates at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

Syneresis reducing compositions for conformance applications using metal cross-linked gels

Certain metal surfaces are often unable to be effectively contacted with fluids containing hydrofluoric acid due to significant corrosion issues. Titanium and titanium alloy surfaces represent but one example. Corrosion inhibitor compositions comprising an N-(phosphonoalkyl)iminodiacetic acid or any salt thereof can be used to suppress metal corrosion, including that taking place on titanium and titanium alloy surfaces. Methods for suppressing corrosion of a metal surface can comprise: contacting a metal surface with a corrosive environment, the corrosive environment comprising hydrofluoric acid; introducing a corrosion inhibitor composition to the corrosive environment, the corrosion inhibitor composition comprising an N-(phosphonoalkyl)iminodiacetic acid or any salt thereof; contacting the metal surface with the corrosion inhibitor composition; and allowing the corrosion inhibitor composition to suppress corrosion of the metal surface being contacted by the corrosive environment.

Methods for forming a fluid seal in a subterranean formation may comprise: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous carrier fluid, a sealant composition, and a crosslinked polysaccharide composition. The treatment fluid is introduced into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation and the crosslinked polysaccharide composition is formed into a viscosified gel in the wellbore. The viscosified gel substantially spans the diameter of the wellbore and holds the sealant composition in place. After forming the crosslinked polysaccharide composition into a viscosified gel in the wellbore, forming a fluid seal in the wellbore with the sealant composition.

Methods of inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces by aqueous acids are described. The methods include combining a corrosion inhibiting aqueous emulsion with the aqueous acid solution to form a treatment fluid and contacting the metal surface with the treatment fluid. The corrosion inhibiting aqueous emulsion includes one or more silicone polymers having hydrophilic functional groups.

Clay-based retarders may be useful in delaying the gel time of a gellable treatment fluid and, consequently, subterranean operations. For example, a method may involve providing a gellable treatment fluid comprising: an aqueous base fluid; a base polymer comprising an acrylamide monomer unit; a polymeric organic crosslinking agent comprising a crosslinkable polymer selected from the group consisting of polyethyleneimine, polyvinylamine, chitosan, any derivative thereof, any salt thereof, and any combination thereof; and a clay-based gel retarder; introducing the gellable treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation; and forming a gel with the gellable treatment fluid in at least a portion of the wellbore, at least a portion of the subterranean formation, or both. In some instances, producing the gellable treatment fluid may involve not pre-hydrating the clay-based gel retarder. In some instances, the gellable treatment fluid may not be thixotropic or pseudoplastic before introduction into the wellbore.

A method of servicing a wellbore in a subterranean formation comprising preparing a wellbore servicing fluid comprising a water-soluble crosslinkable composition, a particulate water-swellable superabsorber, and an aqueous base fluid, placing the fluid in a treated portion of the formation, wherein the treated portion comprises a first region having a first region permeability and a second region having a second region permeability, wherein a permeability contrast is a ratio between first region permeability and second region permeability, and wherein the permeability contrast is equal to or greater than 10 prior to placement of the fluid, allowing the superabsorber to occupy at least a portion of the first region, thereby reducing the first region permeability, and allowing the crosslinkable composition to penetrate at least a portion of the second region, thereby reducing the second region permeability, wherein the permeability contrast is reduced to less than 10 after placement of the fluid.
