Techniques for presenting a dynamic graphical user interface (GUI) for selecting multiple non-conflicting filters to be used to filter performance data for display in a visualization are provided.

Dynamically building a visualization filter

A technique of automatically predicting data storage configuration events, such as purchase decisions, based upon individual data storage drive properties, client storage usage and behavior trends is described. The behavior trends may include customer actions, such as deleting snap shots or otherwise deleting data, typical ordering times and delays, and expected installation and acceptance testing times. The technique collects operational data and calculates statistical trends. The technique automatically notifies a data storage system manager of the calculated data when the operational data indicates that the data storage system will need reconfiguration and recommends data storage drive properties to acquire.

Purchase planning for data storage processing systems

Improved techniques involve uniformly distributing remainder pixels to the visual components when distributing the visual components in a display of a fixed pixel width. When displaying a number of visual components on the display, an electronic device connected to the display generates remainder pixels that are the result of the quotient of the number of display pixels and the number of visual components not being a whole number. The electronic device then distributes the remainder pixels to the visual components in a uniform manner so that each visual component is aligned with a respective visual target in the display.

Described are techniques for problem analysis. Notification is provided through a user interface regarding a performance problem of a system. A plurality of user interface displays are then displayed which correspond to a plurality of steps in connection with performing analysis of the performance problem. Each of the user interface displays includes a predefined set of one or more options. At least a first of the options in the predefined set corresponds to a recommended action automatically performed in response to selecting said first option of the predefined set.
