Azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions of the present technology include methyl chloride and at least one hydrofluorocarbon or hydrofluoro-olefin. In some examples, the at least one hydrofluorocarbon or hydrofluoro-olefin can be selected from the group consisting of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene. The azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions can be used as solvents or diluents in polymerization processes, including slurry polymerization processes.

Azeotropes of methyl chloride with fluorocarbons

Hot melt adhesive compositions which have enhanced adhesion to difficult substrates, particularly at refrigerator/freezer temperatures or at elevated temperatures. The inventive compositions require a base polymer comprising at least one metallocene ethylene-containing polymer or at least one non-metallocene, amorphous, propylene containing polymer; a tackifier; an optional wax; and an adhesion promoting additive comprising at least one semi-crystalline polymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 30,000 daltons or less. It has been found that the adhesion promoting additive of this invention enhances the adhesion properties of a hot melt adhesive composition having a metallocene ethylene-containing base polymer or non-metallocene, amorphous, propylene containing base polymer, particularly at elevated temperatures or at low refrigerator and freezer temperatures where other conventional adhesives have been unsuccessful.

Adhesion promotion to difficult substrates for hot melt adhesives

Linear low density polyethylenes (LLDPEs) that have relatively high melt index ratios (MIR) and relatively high melt strength (MS) are described. This combination of melt properties is achieved by a substantially non-blended LLDPE. Catalysts used to produce these polyethylenes are generally a blend of bridged bisindenyl zirconocene dichlorides, where one zirconocene contains saturated indenyls and the other unsaturated indenyls.

Linear low density polyethylenes with high melt strength and high melt index ratio

This invention relates to a process for polymerizing ethylene comprising contacting ethylene and optional comonomers with a catalyst system comprising an activator and a transition metal compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## Wherein R.sub.1 and R2 are independently hydrogen or a group having up to 100 carbon atoms, Cp.sub.1 is a bulky ligand; Cp.sub.2 is a bulky ligand or a heteroatom optionally bound to a C.sub.1 to C.sub.50 hydrocarbyl group, n is the valence state of the transition metal, Tm is a Group 3 to 10 metal, and each X is independently an anionic leaving group.

Germanium bridged metallocenes producing polymers with increased melt

High molecular weight copolymers of ethylene and 0.5-10 mole percent branched a-olefins are disclosed. The polymers have M.sub.w of 30,000-1,000,000, MWD of 2-4, a density of 0.85-0.95 g/cm.sup.3, and a high composition distribution breadth index. Also disclosed are a method for making the polymers with a cyclopentadienyl metallocene catalyst system, and films, fibers, molded articles and other products made from the copolymers.

Ethylene/branched olefin copolymers

The invention relates to peroxide- or radiation-curable copolymer containing compositions and to the resulting radiation- or peroxide- cured compositions. The compositions may optionally contain a reinforcing filler. Copolymers employed in the compositions are acrylate modified copolymers of an isoolefin of 4 to 7 carbon atoms and para-alkylstyrene comonomers. Since the percentage of extractables from the cured composition is negligible, the cured compositions are suitable for use in the manufacture of a variety of high purity rubber goods used in the pharmaceutical and health care industries. In addition, the compositions may be employed as condenser packings and as food contact materials or wire cable insulation materials. Further, the cured composition may be employed in the manufacture of high purity hoses.

Peroxide and radiation curable compositions containing isobutylenene

Novel tackifier resins having a M.sub.n of 5,000 or less and a T.sub.g of 0.degree. C. or above are produced by combining a metallocene catalyst with an alpha-olefin and a cyclic monomer. New adhesives are produced by blending the novel tackifier with a base polymer.

Tackifiers and a process to obtain tackifiers

Cycloolefin/alpha-olefin copolymers in a molar ratio from 5/95 to 95/5, optionally including long linear alpha-olefin, branched alpha-olefins and/or polyenes as additional comonomers, are prepared using a cyclopentadienyl metallocene catalyst system based on a transition metal compound from Group 4 of the Periodic Table of Elements. The copolymers have a high molecular weight, a narrow molecular weight distribution and a substantially uniform, random comonomer distribution.
