A photovoltaic system comprises a photovoltaic cell, a substrate, and a light-conversion layer. The photovoltaic cell converts incident light into electricity and is responsive to a range of frequencies of incident light that is less than all frequencies of the incident light. The substrate is disposed between the photovoltaic cell and the incident light so that the incident light passes through the substrate to illuminate the photovoltaic cell. The light-conversion layer is disposed on the substrate so that incident light illuminates the light-conversion layer and the light-conversion layer converts a broad frequency band of incident light outside the range to light within the range and is emitted toward the photovoltaic cell to illuminate the photovoltaic cell with converted light.

Light-conversion layer and photovoltaic system

A tiled interactive screen comprises a mounting surface and tiles mounted on the mounting surface. Each tile comprises a tile substrate with photoluminescent marks disposed in a pattern on or in the tile substrate. Each photoluminescent mark is unique with respect to every other photoluminescent mark on any of the tiles, each photoluminescent mark comprises a pattern encoding information specifying the location of the photoluminescent mark on the tile, and each tile substrate is at least partially transparent to light absorbed by the photoluminescent marks and is at least partially transparent to light emitted by the photoluminescent marks. The photoluminescent marks respond to stimulating electromagnetic radiation by emitting electromagnetic radiation. A tiled photonic interactive system comprises a tiled photonic interactive screen and an optical stylus operable to emit stimulating radiation onto one or more photoluminescent marks and respond to electromagnetic radiation emitted by the stimulated photoluminescent marks.

The invention concerns device for a digital writing instrument the device comprising a substrate with a transparent or translucent layer and a pattern layer on the transparent layer. The pattern comprising an active area made with photoluminescent material and an inactive area made with non photoluminescent material. The photoluminescent material comprises a successive alternate of a first layer and a second layer generating photoluminescent structure at the interface of said first layer and said second layer, the pattern layer comprises a series of N points distributed in a plan (X,Y), either said N-points define the active area whereas the inactive area is defined by the area between said N points. The N-points defines the inactive area whereas the active area is defined by the area between said N points. The invention also relates to a method for determining a position, a method for manufacturing, a system and a stylus.
