An end can assembly for an engine exhaust aftertreatment canister comprises an end can formed from an end plate and a wall extending from a periphery of the end plate, the end plate and the wall having a first cutaway portion formed therein. A pipe is provided in the first cutaway portion and attached to the end can around the first cutaway portion to form a seal with the end can, the pipe having at least one opening provided therein which opens into an interior of the end can assembly. A bracket, comprising a plate and a shoulder extending at an angle from the plate, is attached to the end plate and to the wall, the shoulder having a second cutaway portion formed therein which is shaped to receive the pipe whereby the shoulder abuts the pipe and provides structural support to the pipe and end can.

End can assembly for an engine exhaust aftertreatment canister

An exhaust mixer apparatus, emissions cleaning module, and a method of manufacturing the exhaust mixer apparatus is provided. The exhaust mixer apparatus comprises an exhaust conduit, a first exhaust mixer and a second exhaust mixer. The exhaust conduit is configured to extend in an elongate direction comprising an inlet and an outlet for transporting exhaust fluid. The first exhaust mixer comprises a plurality of elongate mixing blades each having a length extending in the elongate direction. Each elongate mixing blade comprising an outer edge extending in the elongate direction and blades are twisted along their lengths such that the outer edge is rotated about the elongate direction. The second exhaust mixer is configured to impart a swirl on an exhaust fluid and spaced apart from the first exhaust mixer in the exhaust conduit.

Exhaust mixer, emissions cleaning module and method of manufacture

An exhaust treatment component may be mounted in brackets, each bracket having a clamping surface which in a use orientation is arranged in parallel with a corresponding mounting surface of a fixed mount, the mounting surfaces defining adjustment planes which are spaced apart along a length axis of the mount. Each bracket may be adjusted independently in its use orientation to define a variable clamping position in the adjustment plane. In another aspect, the component may be mounted in one or more brackets, each bracket comprising curved contact surface, each surface being defined by an arc of a respective circle, each arc being contained in the circle of the other respective arc, whereby the centre points of the respective circles are spaced apart in the reference plane so that each arc is contained in the circle of the other respective arc. The component can be clamped to the bracket irrespective of its diameter.

Adjustable mounting for exhaust treatment component

A joint assembly for connecting a first pipe having a first inner diameter and a second pipe having a second inner diameter which is larger than the first inner diameter comprises, an annular section comprising an annular wall defining a flow path through the annular section and configured to connect to the first pipe and the second pipe, and a clamp portion configured to clamp the second pipe between an outer surface of the annular section and an inner surface of the clamp portion. An inner diameter of the annular section varies from a first inner diameter at a first end of the annular section to a second inner diameter at a second end of the annular section. The first inner diameter is substantially equal to the inner diameter of the first pipe. The second inner diameter is substantially equal to the inner diameter of the second pipe.

Joint assembly

An exhaust gas treatment assembly comprises a housing which is radially inwardly deformed in a clamping region to retain a block of ceramic or other material which may be arranged as a filter or catalyst within the housing. The clamping region is deformed to a first surface level and includes local protuberances which extend radially outwardly to a second surface level and support a mounting surface for mounting the assembly in a mounting connector. The first surface level may vary to accommodate the dimensions of each individual block while the second surface level is fixed so that the mounting surface can fit in a mounting assembly with standardized dimensions.

Mounting interface for exhaust gas treatment assembly

An aftertreatment assembly for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The assembly includes an aftertreatment component with an inlet, and a pipe connection fluidly connected to the inlet. The pipe connection includes an adjustable spherical pipe joint that joins two angularly offset pipe sections, and a slip pipe joint that joins two axially aligned pipe sections and that can adjust a combined length of the two axially aligned pipe sections. The assembly allows for compensating the positional and orientational displacements between an exhaust outlet and the inlet of the aftertreatment assembly.

Aftertreatment assembly tolerance compensation scheme

An emissions cleaning module is provided including a first support, a second support and a mixer module. The mixer module extends between the first support and the second support. The mixer module includes an outer body and an inner body located within the outer body. In addition the outer body is fixedly retained to the first support and the second support. Further, a first end of the inner body is slidingly retained within the outer body, and a second end of the inner body is fixedly retained relative to the outer body at or near the second support.

Emissions cleaning module

An injector mount for mounting an injector adjacent a curved fluid flow path includes an inner surface defining a boundary of the curved fluid flow path and an aperture between the inner surface and an outer surface. The aperture is configured to receive an injector. The inner surface includes a peripheral region, a central region recessed relative to the peripheral region, and an intermediate region including a convex surface that joins an inner edge of the peripheral region to an outer edge of the central region.

Injector mount

An exhaust mixer provided may be used for mixing an additive, such as urea, in exhaust fluid flow. The exhaust mixer may be useful in reducing or preventing build-up of solid additive deposits by increasing efficiency of mixing of the additive. The exhaust mixer may be located at least partially within a mixing conduit and includes plurality of elongate mixing blades held in spaced configuration by a support. Each mixing blade may have a longitudinal axis extending along a longitudinal axis of the mixing conduit, wherein an injector module may be located upstream of the inlet of the mixing conduit.

Exhaust mixer, emissions cleaning module and method

The disclosure provides an emissions cleaning module for cleaning emissions output from an internal combustion engine. The emissions cleaning module may include a first conduit, a second conduit, a third conduit, a first end coupling and a second end coupling which together provide a continuous fluid path. The first, second and third conduits may be supported at one end by a first support member and at an opposite end by a second support member. The first, second and third conduits may be mutually parallel. The support members, conduits and couplings may be arranged with relative substantial translational movement thereof restricted.

Emissions cleaning module for an engine

An emissions cleaning module is provided including a flow conduit having an upstream end fluidly connected to a source of exhaust fluid and a downstream end fluidly connected to a mixer module. The flow conduit includes a bend upstream of the mixer module. An inner side of the bend of the flow conduit includes a funnel portion. The emissions cleaning module provides an improved arrangement for the flow of exhaust fluid.

An emissions cleaning module electronics support unit includes a base member which defines at least one seating location for an electronics module; and a roof member includes a first end joined to the base member and a second end, distal the base member, coupled to a brace or one or more conduits of the emissions cleaning module. The roof member may be shaped to extend up and over the base member so as to create an open-mouthed cavity. The base member may include one or more apertures creating tortuous thermal paths between the attachment member and electronics module seating location.

Emissions cleaning module and associated electronics support unit

An emissions cleaning module includes a flow conduit having an upstream end fluidly connected to a source of exhaust fluid and a downstream end fluidly connected to a mixer module. An injector module has an outlet orientated to inject injection fluid into the flow conduit upstream the mixer module. A low pressure cavity downstream the injector module outlet is fluidly connected to the flow conduit or the mixer module by an open mouth orientated such that a flow of exhaust fluid along the flow conduit flows over the open mouth creating a pressure reduction within the low pressure cavity.

Clean emissions module

An exhaust treatment system for machine is disclosed that includes a burner body having an inlet for receiving a flow of exhaust, an outlet for the exhaust flow to exit, an opening and a receiving mount disposed around the opening. A fuel injector head is mounted over the opening in any one of a plurality of angular positions relative to the body. The burner body includes a plurality of mounting pads extending at least partially and circumferentially around the burner body for coupling a support bracket to the burner body in any one of a plurality of positions relative to the burner body. The support bracket may be used to couple the burner to a fixture device such as a cradle for supporting other exhaust treatment system components.
