A device may receive a request for a particular service from a user device. The device may determine a priority class associated with the service. The device may determine, based on the priority class, quality of service requirements associated with providing the service. The device may determine, based on the quality of service requirements, one or more cloud resources for providing the service to a user of the user device. The device may allocate the one or more cloud resources to provide the service to the user.

Policy-based session establishment and transfer in a virtualized/cloud environment

A device receives policy parameters for a user equipment moving from a first access network to a second access network. The device also translates the policy parameters to parameters understood by the second access network, and provides the translated policy parameters to the second access network. When the translated policy parameters are accepted by the second access network, the user equipment connects to the second access network in accordance with the translated policy parameters.

Inter-policy server communication via a policy broker

A device is configured to determine that the user device is participating in a conference call with a plurality of other user devices; determine that the user device is muted during the conference call; receive a first sound from the user device while the user device is muted; recognize that the first sound matches a vocal pattern of a user associated with the user device; and un-mute the user device after recognizing that the first sound matches the vocal pattern.

Muting and un-muting user devices

A device receives feature peer packets including feature peer state information. The feature peer packets are received from a first set of feature peers provided at a first location and associated with a service graph associated with a user device of a customer. The device receives customer packets including customer state information, and receives a request for the feature peer packets and the customer packets based on movement of the user device to a second location. The device provides, based on the request, the feature peer packets and the customer packets to a storage device at the second location. The storage device provides the feature peer packets and the customer packets to a second set of feature peers provided at the second location. The second set of feature peers establish a relocated service graph for the user device based on the feature peer packets and the customer packets.

Feature peer network with scalable state information

A device receives, by using a first communication technique, a message from a first user device. The device identifies a profile associated with the first user device or a user of the first user device. The device further identifies, in the profile, a relevant rule, based on the message, and a second user device that is designated as a primary user device of the user associated with the profile. By using a second communication technique, the device transmits a request for instructions to the second user device based on the relevant rule, and receives the instructions from the second user device. The instructions specify a third user device selected by the user. The device generates a command based on the relevant rule. The device transmits, by using a third communication technique, the command to the third user device.

Personal area network of devices and applications

A device, of a first data center, detects a power failure associated with the first data center when the first data center stops receiving power. The device further identifies a second data center for traffic to be processed by the first data center. The device also receives the traffic and routes the traffic to the second data center.

Routing traffic after power failure

A SIP-based network architecture is defined allowing a variety of access methods for interfacing QSIG-based signaling devices. The QSIG-based signaling devices are typically enterprise-based PBXs that either interface directly via QSIG, or adapt QSIG signaling to related signaling protocols via gateways, which can be customer premise or network based. The gateways can either interwork QSIG signaling or tunnel QSIG signaling over H.323, SIP, or other protocols. Upon reaching the SIP-based network, Session Border Controllers process the signaling. The Session Border Controllers terminate the tunnel (if used) and extracts the QSIG signaling for interworking to SIP, thereby facilitating a homogeneous SIP-based core network. In addition to interworking QSIG signaling, the Session Border Controllers perform other signaling related functions for the SIP-based network that are performed at a point as near as possible to the network's edge.

Systems and methods for interworking QSIG and H.323 signaling in a SIP-based network

A resource manager permits a first user to use a first bandwidth of a shared pool of bandwidth for receiving a first media stream, where the shared pool of bandwidth comprises a maximum amount of available bandwidth. The resource manager receives a request from a second user to use a second bandwidth of the shared pool of bandwidth for receiving a second media stream, and determines whether it is permissible to decrease the quality of the first media stream or the second media stream to reduce the first bandwidth or the second bandwidth such that the second bandwidth combined with the first bandwidth does not exceed the maximum amount of available bandwidth of the pool of bandwidth, where determining whether it is permissible to decrease the quality of the first media stream or the second media stream includes one of: signaling the first user to determine if the first user approves decreasing the quality of the first media stream, or signaling the second user to determine if the second user approves decreasing the quality of the second media stream. The resource manager further decreases the quality of the first media stream or the second media stream based on the permissibility determination.
