According to one embodiment, a sample analyzer includes a detector, a first generator and a second generator. The detector detects a target substance bonded to a magnetic particle collected to a sensing area in the cartridge. The first generator applies a magnetic field for releasing the magnetic particles from the sensing area. The second generator includes a permanent magnet configured to generate a magnetic field for attracting the magnetic particles to the sensing area, a first soft magnetic material, and a second magnetic material. The second generator switches application and shut-off of a magnetic field by moving the permanent magnet relative to the first soft magnetic material and the second soft magnetic material.

Sample analyzer

According to one embodiment, an automatic analyzer includes a magnet and a photometric mechanism. The magnet generates a magnetic field applied to a test solution containing a sample and magnetic particles accommodated in a cuvette. The photometric mechanism includes a light source and a detector. The light source irradiates light toward the test solution. The detector is provided in a position opposed to the light source across the cuvette to detect the light from the test solution. The magnet has a geometrical arrangement such that a magnetic flux density of the magnetic field in the test solution inside the cuvette becomes substantially uniform.

Automatic analyzer

The present invention enables to provide a simple and inexpensive electromagnetic wave sensor that selectively detects sub-millimeter waves and millimeter waves in a specific frequency band, an imaging element and an imaging device. The distance of the gap between a plurality of antenna elements is smaller than the wavelength of infrared light. A capacitor electrically formed by the gap between the plurality of antenna elements, and an electrical resistor portion form parallel circuits electrically coupled to the antenna portion. The plurality of antenna elements are formed so that the impedance of the antenna portion is matched with the impedance of the parallel circuits against electromagnetic waves having a predetermined frequency, and is not matched against the higher harmonics of electromagnetic waves having the predetermined frequency.

A method of holographic recording and reproduction includes recording to the holographic recording medium a wavelength variation reference pattern which is recorded as a hologram at a wavelength of the recording beam, recording to the holographic recording medium a page data pattern as a hologram at the wavelength of the recording beam, detecting the wavelength variation between the recording beam and the reproducing beam based on the size of an image for wavelength variation reference obtained by reproducing the wavelength variation reference pattern at a wavelength of the reproducing beam, and reproducing the page data pattern using the reproducing beam with a wavelength controlled based on the detected wavelength variation.

The present invention provides a solid-state image sensing device that converts long-wavelength light represented by the terahertz band into electric signals without being affected by the fluctuation of radiated heat, and outputs the signals mainly as picture signals; a method for manufacturing the same, and an imaging system. The cell unit has an antenna to generate electrical signals by receiving incident electric waves, an electrical resistor electrically connected to the antenna, and to vary the temperature of the cell unit by generating Joule heat corresponding to the electrical signals, and a thermoelectric conversion element electrically connected to the support structure portion, electrically insulated from the antenna and the electrical resistor, and thermally connected to the electrical resistor, to generate electrical signals by detecting the temperature variation of the cell unit; and the side of the incident electric waves in the cell unit is formed of a material to reflect infrared lights.

This disclosure concerns a solid-state imaging device including a pixel thermally separated from a substrate; a heat conduction switch having one end connected to the substrate and other end capable of contacting to the substrate or the pixel, the heat conduction switch changing over a state of the pixel to one of a first state and a second state, the first state being a state in which the pixel is thermally isolated from the substrate by causing the other end of the heat conduction switch to contact with the substrate, the second state being a state in which the pixel is thermally shorted to the substrate by causing the other end of the heat conduction switch to contact with the pixel; and a signal detector detecting a difference between the signal voltage of the pixel in the first state and the signal voltage of the pixel in the second state.

The present invention relates to a method for optical recording in which information is recorded on an optical recording media utilizing holography and to a method for optical reproducing in which information recorded on an optical recording media utilizing holography is reconstructed. The methods includes preparing an optical recording media having wavelength reference marks with a periodic structure which are associated with a recording base wavelength, irradiating the wavelength reference marks with a beam from a light source on recording information or on reproducing information to detect a wavelength shift of the light source with respect to the base wavelength based on a diffraction beam from the wavelength reference marks, and performing recording or reproducing while controlling the wavelength of the light source so as to reduce the wavelength shift.

A display device with both light-emitting and reflective display capabilities is disclosed. This device includes first and second electrodes provided on a first substrate, a second substrate provided to be spaced apart from and oppose the first substrate, a third electrode provided on the second substrate, a first layer which is provided between the first and second substrates on the first substrate side and which contains a light emissive material that emits light through electrochemical oxidation or reduction, a second layer which is provided between the first and second substrates on the second substrate side and which includes a coloring material that changes in color due to electrochemical oxidation or reduction, and a third layer between the first and second layers. The third layer is an electrolytic layer having non-transmissivity or transmission retardancy against the light emissive material or its oxidation or reduction species.
