The present invention relates to a polymer composition (C) comprising at least one polyamide (P1), and from 1 to 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of (C), of at least one functionalized polymer (P2), wherein P2 is a poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PAES) having at least one functional group (SO), (M)in which Mis a metal cation of p valence. The present invention also relates to articles incorporating the polymer composition (C) and the use of functionalized polymer (P2) as a compatibilizer in the polymer composition (C) comprising two immiscible polymers.

Composition and method for manufacturing sulfone polymer membrane

A process for the manufacturing of a poly (arylether sulfone) polymer comprising reacting in a solvent mixture comprising a polar aprotic solvent and in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate, a monomer mixture which contains: at least one 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitol selected from the group consisting of isosorbide (1), isomannide (2) and isoidide (3); at least one dihaloaryl compound of formula (S): X&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;SO&#x2014;[Ar&#x2014;(T-Ar)&#x2014;SO]&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;X wherein n and m, equal to or different from each other, are independently zero or an integer of 1 to 5; X and X', equal to or different from each other, are halogens selected from F, Cl, Br, I; each of Ar, Ar, Arand Arequal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is an aromatic moiety, T is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; optionally, at least one dihydroxyl compound different from the diol (AA); optionally, at least one dihaloaryl compound different from the dihalo (BB); and optionally, at least one hydroxyl-halo compound [hydro-halo (A&#x2032;B&#x2032;)]; being understood that the overall amount of halo-groups and hydroxyl-groups of the monomers of the monomer mixture is substantially equimolecular, so as to obtain a polymer (b-PAES), wherein the reaction is carried out at a total % monomer mixture concentration equal to or more 10% and less than 70% with respect to the combined weight of monomer mixture and solvent mixture.

Polyarylene ether sulfones

A polymer composition [composition (C)] comprising: (a) a polyarylene ether ketone (PAEK-1) comprising recurring units deriving from the incorporation of 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitols; (b) a poly(biphenyl ether) sulfone (PPSU-1) comprising repeating units of formula (I) and/or (c) a polyetherimide (PEI-1) comprising repeating units of formula (II) wherein Ar* and Ar*' are as defined in the specification are herein disclosed. (PAEK-1) and (PPSU-1) and/or (PEI-1) are completely miscible and give rise to compositions that are transparent and possess high strength and stiffness and that are suitable for the manufacture of a variety of shaped articles.

Poly(ether ketone) polymers comprising cycloaliphatic units

An epoxy resin composition [composition (C)] comprising: (i) from 30 to 90% by weight of at least one epoxy compound [compound E], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (ii) from 0 to 60% by weight of at least one curing agent [agent C], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iii) from 0 to 15% by weight of at least one accelerator, based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iv) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-1)], based on the total weight of the composition (C) and wherein said PAES (I-1) polymer comprises amine functional groups in an amount equal to or more than 200 &#x3bc;eq/g; (v) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-2)], based on the total weight of the composition (C), and wherein said PAES (I-2) polymer is different from the PAES (I-1) polymer.
