Provided is a thermoplastic resin film having at least one of film surfaces being excellent in printability, having sufficiently low internal haze, and exhibiting a favorable matte appearance. A thermoplastic resin film according to the present invention composed of a thermoplastic resin composition (C) including at least one kind of a thermoplastic resin (R) and fine particles (P) having a volume average particle diameter of 0.5 to 15 &#x3bc;m and a refractive index different from that of the thermoplastic resin (R) by 0.02 or more. At least one of film surfaces satisfies formulas (1) and (2).&#x2265;60&#x2003;&#x2003;(1),&#x2212;35&#x2264;&#x2212;10&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)(In the formulas (1) and (2), Gis 60&#xb0; gloss (%) at 20&#xb0; C., Gis 60&#xb0; gloss (%) when the thermoplastic resin film is heated at a temperature 10&#xb0; C. higher than a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic resin composition (C) for 30 minutes, then cooled to 20&#xb0; C.).

A method for producing a biaxially stretched film is provided, in which the method comprises, stretching a film made mainly of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene content of 15 to 70 mol % and a saponification degree of 80 mol % or more under heating; cooling the film; and subjecting the cooled film to a heat treatment; wherein a heating temperature during the stretching is 60 to 160&deg; C., a cooling temperature is a temperature 30 to 100&deg; C. lower than the heating temperature during the stretching, and a temperature for the heat treatment is 150 to 190&deg; C. The thus obtained biaxially stretched film of the present invention has a small bowing coefficient.
