The present invention relates to a rapidly disintegrating tablet for oral administration. The tablet has a first phase and a second phase blended with the first phase. The first phase has a compacted mixture of methylcellulose having a viscosity of &#x3e;1000 centipoise and a diluent. The methylcellulose is the sole active ingredient in the first phase. There is also a process for preparing a rapidly disintegrating tablet.
