A filtration system for cleaning contaminated fluids having input means disposed tangentially of a cylindrical filter surface and simultaneously sweeping said surface and providing a fluid flow therethrough and backwash means having one or more nozzle bearing standpipes adapted to simultaneously rotate within and axially reciprocate spray nozzles relative to a cylindrical filter assembly to dislodge particulates therefrom either concurrently or independently of the flow of contaminated fluid therethrough.

Filtration system

A skimmer is provided for a swimming pool and is constructed in a manner similar to conventional skimmers for a pool so far as the water inlet and filter basket is concerned. Instead of pulling water through the filter basket to the recirculating pump for the pool, however, a water outlet is provided from the bottom of the basket holding cavity of the skimmer; and return water for supply back to the pool is provided by the recirculating pump to an entrainment nozzle device located at the bottom of the filter cavity to pull additional water through the filter cavity to mix with the return water, all of which is supplied to the water outlet located beneath the pool water surface level. Consequently, even if the filter basket should be completely clogged, the water flow through the recirculating system for the pool is not impeded, since the filter basket is not in the primary recirculating path of the pool system.

Pool skimmer

A method and apparatus for intermittent administration of supplemental oxygen to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients programmed for specific oxygen needs for each patient. Patient's arterial blood oxygen level is measured while supplying oxygen to determine the time required to reach a desired level and it is again measured without supplemental oxygen to determine the time required to diminish to a second, lower particular level. These two time intervals are applied as a program to apparatus connected to a supply of oxygen having valve and time controls to provide a regulated flow of supplemental oxygen to a nasal cannula for a preset time and to shut off the flow for a preset time sequentially and repetitively. The apparatus is powered by the energy of the gas itself either directly by gas powered controls and valves or indirectly with electrically powered controls and valves with gas power operating an electric generator to supply the necessary electrical power.
