Systems and techniques for sensor-derived object flight performance tracking are described herein. A set of magnetometer readings may be obtained from a magnetometer included with an object. A local rotation axis of the object may be determined at a time using the set of magnetometer readings. The local rotation axis may describe rotation of the object around a local magnetic target. A global rotation axis may be calculated based on an initial orientation of the object. The global rotation axis may describe a fixed rotation axis of the object during flight in a global coordinate frame, wherein an angle between the global rotation axis and magnetic north remains constant during the flight. An orientation of the object may be determined for the time using the global rotation axis and the local rotation axis of the object at the time.

A touchpad system is disclosed herein that includes a touchpad sensor formed from a plurality of flexible materials and is at least partially integrated into host clothing or furniture such that the touchpad sensor is generally obscured from view. The touchpad sensor may be implemented as a resistive or capacitive touchpad, whereby user input is detected and converted into a proportional electrical signal. The touchpad sensor may include N layers of flexible materials configured to conduct electrical energy, and also conform to contours of a host object. At least one layer of the flexible materials may be heat sealed or otherwise adhered to an inner surface of the host object, such as beneath a shirt sleeve. Thus smart clothing/furniture may appear to be 'normal' while also providing convenient user-access to a touchpad sensor that can robustly handle a wide variety of user-input to control operation of a remote computing device.

Microfluidic apparatus including integrated porous substrate/sensors that may be used for detecting targeted biological and chemical molecules and compounds. In one aspect, upper and lower microfluidic channels are defined in respective halves of a substrate, which are sandwiched around a porous membrane upon assembly. In other aspect, the upper and lower channels are formed such that a portion of the lower channel passes beneath a portion of the upper channel to form a cross-channel area, wherein the membrane is disposed between the two channels. In various embodiments, one or more porous membranes are disposed proximate to corresponding cross-channel areas defined by one or more upper and lower channels.
