A refuse container has a bin defining a cavity and a lid selectively inhibiting access to the cavity. A pair of opposing brackets is located below the lid. The brackets are in laterally spaced relationship such that a space is located between portions of the brackets. Each bracket has opposing inner and outer face portions with an interior gap formed between therebetween. The interior gap is fluidly isolated from the cavity. A rib is located within the interior gaps such that each rib extends inwardly relative to the space between the brackets. A retention bar is coupled to each bracket and spans the space from one bracket to the other bracket wherein opposing ends of the retention bar extend into the interior gap of each bracket, and an exposed portion of the retention bar spans the space between the brackets. The end portions of the retention bar abut the ribs.

Refuse container

A refuse container has a lid rotatably coupled to a bin. A locking mechanism for the lid includes a latch including a handle and is moveable between a locked lid position and an unlocked lid position. A detent acts between the bin and the lid and cooperates with the latch so as to effect locking of the lid to the bin when the latch is in the locked lid position, and permit movement of the lid, relative to the bin, from the closed position to the open position when the latch is in the unlocked lid position.

A multi-level stacking container is disclosed. The container comprises: a base; a pair of opposed sidewalls extending from the base; and a pair of moveable support bars operatively coupled to and extending across the pair of opposed sidewalls, the pair of support bars being moveable between at least three positions such that the container is stackable in at least three positions with a second like container. In one aspect, the container comprises a base, a first pair of opposing sidewalls extending from the base, each of the sidewalls including a rim, an inner surface, an outer surface, the rim including first and second longitudinally-spaced apart pluralities of recesses formed therein, and first and second moveable support bars configured to extend across the pair of opposing sidewalls, each of the moveable support bars including an elongated rod configured to be received within any of the recesses of either of the first or second pluralities of recesses formed in the respective rims of each of the first pair of sidewalls, the rod including first and second inwardly-turned ends pivotally coupled to the respective outer surfaces of each of the sidewalls.

The present invention provides a container comprising a base configured to vertically support at least one object, a pair of opposed sidewalls projecting above the base and configured to retain the at least one vertically supported object on the base, each of the sidewalls having a top surface, an exterior surface, and a receptacle, wherein the exterior surface merges with the top surface to define an upper exterior edge, and wherein the exterior surface further merges with the receptacle to define a receptacle edge, and a support member pivotally mounted within the receptacles to facilitate pivotal movement of the support member relative to each of the sidewalls, the support member being configured to support a second identical container, wherein the upper exterior edge and the receptacle edge of at least one of the opposed sidewalls are configured to simultaneously oppose the support member during at least a portion of the pivotal movement such that the clearance between the support member and the upper edge is greater than the clearance between the support member and the receptacle. The present invention provides a container comprising a base configured to vertically support at least one object, a pair of opposed sidewalls and a pair of opposed endwalls, each of the sidewalls and the endwalls projecting above the base and configured to retain the at least one vertically supported object on the base, each of the sidewalls having an exterior surface defining a receptacle, and a support member pivotally mounted within the receptacles to facilitate pivotal movement of the support member relative to each of the sidewalls, the support member configured to support a second identical container, wherein at least one of the endwalls includes a support surface configured to support the support member, the support surface including at least two notches configured to permit application of a force to the support member by fingers of a human hand when the support member is resting on the support surfaces such that the application of the force displaces the support member from the support surface.

A collapsible container is provided, the container having a base and two pairs of opposed sidewalls pivotally attached to the base. A latch member is disposed at an end of one of the sidewalls and a latch is pivotally connected to a corresponding end of an adjacent sidewall. The latch has a body with a biasing means attached thereto, for releasably engaging the latch member when the sidewalls are in an assembled position.

A collapsible container for storage and transport of produce or other goods is provided. In one embodiment, there is provided a five piece collapsible container with abase and four pivotable walls. Each of the four walls are outwardly collapsible to facilitate washing, and inwardly collapsible for compact storage. A latch mechanism is provided at each of the four points where two sidewalls abut each other providing a rigid assembled container. Attached to each latch mechanism is an actuating member with a grip. There is a latch mechanism on each side of each of two opposing sidewalls and latch actuators with grips that in close proximity to each other. The two grips allow the operator to disengage both latches integral with one side of the container with one hand. Similarly, when collapsing the container from assembled position, all four latches can be disengaged with each hand at respective pairs of grips. The latches are readily disengageable while providing a rigid assembled container.

A domestic composter of molded plastic has an upwardly tapered body comprising an upper and a lower half, with tongue and socket connectors such that the two halves may be firmly assembled together or separated without the use of tools. The upper half fits readily within the lower half, permitting transportation of the composter within a standard size automobile. The tapered construction enables multiples of the respective body portions to be nested, for economical bulk transportation. An access door is provided, having securing lugs that may be padlocked, and the removable lid of the composter may be rotated into a selectively variable position that precludes removal and affords ventilation control. The lid may be readily removed, or may be electively opened to a partial-access position for one-handed depositing of waste therein. A comprehensive vent system allows controlled cooling and ventilation while precluding access even to small animals such as mice. Screw-down earth anchors may be used to anchor the composter to the ground, or over a plain base plate.
