A multilayer nonporous oxygen absorbing structure that resists delamination, e.g., humidity induced delamination, including a first layer having a first continuous polymer phase, a first water insoluble, dispersed, polyether resin phase in the first continuous polymer phase, and a water activated oxygen absorber, and a second layer having a second continuous polymer phase, bonded to the first layer.

A thermal dye image receiver element has a substrate comprising a voided compliant layer and metalized layer. Disposed on the metalized layer is an opacifying layer that includes an opacifying agent and a dye receiving layer. This thermal dye image receiver element can be a duplex element with image receiving layers on both sides of the substrate, and it can be used in association with a thermal donor element to provide a thermal image on either or opposing sides of the receiver element. The metalized layer provides increased specular reflectance under resulting thermal dye images.

Metallized thermal dye image receiver elements and imaging

An imaging element has a substrate, an extruded, non-voided compliant layer and an image receiving layer. The extruded, non-voided compliant layer has a heat of fusion of equal to or greater than 0 and up to and including 45 joules/g of compliant layer as determined in a temperature range of from 25&#xb0; C. to 147&#xb0; C. by ASTM method D3418-08 and a tensile modulus value of less than 5&#xd7;10dynes/cm. These imaging elements can be used as thermal dye image transfer receiver elements to provide an image in combination with a thermal dye donor element in a thermal dye transfer process.

Thermal receiver elements and imaging assemblies

An image receiving element is a composite of two or more extruded layers on a support including, in order, an extruded compliant layer, an extruded antistatic tie layer, and an image receiving layer that may also be extruded. The extruded compliant layer is non-voided and comprises from about 10 to about 40 weight % of at least one elastomeric polymer. This image receiving element can be disposed on a support to form a thermal dye transfer receiver element, an electrophotographic image receiver element, or a thermal wax receiver element. Two or more extruded layers can be co-extruded.

Extruded image receiver elements

A duplex thermal dye transfer element has a substrate, a non-voided compliant layer and a thermal dye image receiving layer. These imaging elements can be imaged on either or both sides in combination with one or more thermal dye donor elements in a thermal dye transfer process. Imaging can form a dye image or transfer clear films or laminates or metalized layers to either or both sides of the substrate.

Duplex thermal dye receiver elements and imaging methods

An image receiving element has an extruded compliant layer, an extruded image receiving layer, and a topcoat immediately adjacent the extruded image receiving layer. The extruded image receiving layer is non-crosslinked and has a glass transition temperature (T) of from about 40&#xb0; C. to about 80&#xb0; C. whereas the topcoat is an aqueous-coated layer and has a Tthat is within a range of plus or minus 10&#xb0; C. of the Tof the extruded image receiving layer. The dry thickness ratio of the topcoat to the extruded image receiving layer is from 1:2 to 1:20.

Image receiver elements with overcoat

An image receiving element is a composite of multiple layers on a support including, in order, an extruded compliant layer, an aqueous-coated subbing layer, and an image receiving layer that may also be extruded. The extruded compliant layer is non-voided and comprises from about 10 to about 40 weight % of at least one elastomeric polymer. This image receiving element can be disposed on a support to form a thermal dye transfer receiver element, an electrophotographic image receiver element, or a thermal wax receiver element. Excellent adhesion is provided between the extruded compliant layer and the image receiving layer by means of the aqueous-coated subbing layer.

Image receiver elements

A method of co-extrusion is used to prepare a thermal imaging element such as a thermal dye receiver element. In this method, two or three of an image receiving layer, an antistatic tie layer, and a compliant layer are co-extruded and these co-extruded multiple layers can be disposed on a support to provide a smooth outer surface and reduced delamination among layers especially in a high humidity environment.

Method of making thermal imaging elements

The present invention relates to an image recording element comprising a support having thereon an aqueous subbing layer and an extruded dye receiving layer, wherein the image recording element is a thermal dye receiver. The present invention also relates to a method of making a thermal dye receiving element comprising providing a support for an imaging element; applying an aqueous subbing layer to the support; and extruding thereon at least one thermal dye receiving layer.

The invention relates to a toner receiver member comprising a base, at least one tie layer adjacent to said base, and at least one toner receiver layer adjacent said at least one tie layer on the side opposite to the base, wherein said at least one toner receiver layer comprises a layer of branched polyester or a mixture of styrene acrylate copolymer with an ethylene methacrylate copolymer or with a low density polyethylene.

The invention relates to a method of forming such an image receiver element, a printing system comprising an imaging material and the image receiver element, and a method of printing comprising obtaining an imaging material comprising a colorant layer; obtaining the image receiver element; superposing the colorant layer with the receiver element; and transferring colorant from the imaging material to the image receiver element.
