An image formation device includes a support to support movement of a substrate along a travel path, a fluid ejection device, and a belt. The fluid ejection device is located along the travel path to deposit droplets of ink particles within a liquid carrier onto the substrate to at least partially form an image on the substrate. The belt is a flexible belt located downstream along the travel path from the fluid ejection device and includes a contact portion to arcuately conform relative to, and be in movable contact against, a first arcuate portion of the substrate to at least partially remove the liquid carrier from the substrate.

An image formation device includes a support, a fluid ejection device, and a first porous element. The support is to support movement of a substrate along a travel path, while the fluid ejection device is located along the travel path to deposit droplets of ink particles within a liquid carrier onto the substrate to at least partially form an image on the substrate. The first porous element is located downstream along the travel path from the fluid ejection device to be in contact against the substrate to remove, via electroosmotic flow through the first porous element, at least a portion of the liquid carrier from the substrate.

An image formation device includes at least one frame portion supporting at least one emitter to emit airborne charges, at least one radiation element to emit radiation, and a fluid ejection device to deposit droplets of ink particles within a non-aqueous fluid carrier onto a substrate. Upon relative movement between the at least one frame portion and the substrate, the emitted airborne charges are to electrostatically fix, and the at least one radiation element is to emit radiation to cause at least further fixation of, the deposited particles relative to the substrate.

The electronic paper display is imageable by receiving charges on a charge receiving layer of the electronic paper display. The ground electrode is opposite to the charge receiving layer of the electronic paper display and exposed at an edge of the display device.

The first portion is located along a travel path of a substrate and is to receive ink particles within a carrier fluid in a pattern onto the substrate to at least partially form an image. The first charge source is downstream along the travel path from the first portion and is to emit first polarity charges to charge the at least first color ink particles to move, via electrostatic attraction through the first carrier fluid, to become electrostatically fixed in the pattern relative to the substrate. Via the first charge source or a subsequent charge source, further emission of opposite second polarity charges are to maintain electrostatic fixation of the ink particles in the pattern relative to the substrate.

An image formation device includes a transfer member and a first portion to receive an electrically charged, image-receiving holder onto the transfer member. A second portion downstream from the first portion is to receive droplets of ink particles within a dielectric carrier fluid onto the electrically charged, image-receiving holder to form at least part of an image. A charge source is to emit airborne charges to charge the ink particles to move, via attraction relative to the image-receiving holder, through the carrier fluid to become electrostatically fixed relative to the image-receiving holder. A liquid removal unit is to remove at least the carrier fluid from at least a surface of the image-receiving holder. A transfer station is to transfer the ink particles of the image and the image-receiving holder together from the transfer member to an image formation medium.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for writing on electronic paper ('e-paper') and display platforms implemented with e-paper. In one aspect, a system for writing information to electronic paper includes a writing module and an erasing unit connected to the writing module. The erasing unit is configured to erase information stored in the electronic paper. The system also includes a writing unit connected to the writing module and is configured to write information to the electronic paper. Information is written to the electronic paper by orienting the writing module so that the electronic paper passes the erasing unit prior to passing the writing unit.

A display device includes a non e-paper portion to display a first pattern element and a passive e-paper display portion to display a second pattern element juxtaposed relative to the first pattern element.

According to one example, there is provided an imaging system that comprises a housing, a rotatable polygon comprising multiple mirrored facets located in the housing, a laser to generate a laser beam to shine onto the polygon mirror and to reflect onto a target, and wherein, in use, the density of gas within the housing is such that turbulence-related optical distortion within the housing is not greater than a predetermined limit.

An imager includes an ion-emitting unit and a conveying structure to move a passive e-paper display medium in a first orientation along a travel path and to releasably support the display medium in spaced relation to receive airborne ions from the ion-emitting unit for imaging operations.

One example of a display device includes a first layer and a second layer including a conductive material. The second layer is attached to the first layer such that a surface of the second layer facing the first layer is exposed along an edge of the second layer. The second layer supports an electronic paper display imageable by receiving charges on an imaging surface of the electronic paper display. The second layer is electrically coupled to a counter-electrode of the electronic paper display.

The present disclosure describes writing information on substrate displays. In an example, a display on a substrate is interfaced. The interfacing includes constraining a first longitudinal side of the substrate via a first actuable slot. Further, a second longitudinal side of the substrate opposite to the first longitudinal side is constrained via a second actuable slot. Thereby the substrate is constrained between the first and second slot with the display positioned therebetween. Further, the display is operated to write information thereon via an imager while the substrate is constrained between the first and second slot.

A belt drive includes a belt and at least one pair of spaced apart rails extending in a first direction and defining a gap. The belt is aligned with the gap and to be driven in an endless loop with the belt including a first movable portion external to the gap on a first side of the rails and a second movable portion biased to be recessed within the gap on an opposite second side of the rails. A rewritable display medium is releasably engageable in a sandwiched position between a slidable contact surface of the rails and a first segment of the second movable portion external to the gap to move the display medium in the first direction for contact-less imaging via a unit spaced from the rails.

One example of a display device includes an electronic paper display, a counter-electrode, a floating electrode, and a patterned layer. The electronic paper display is imageable by receiving charges on an imaging surface of the electronic paper display. The counter-electrode is opposite to the imaging surface of the electronic paper display. The floating electrode is capacitively coupled to the counter-electrode. The patterned layer on the floating electrode provides mechanical protection for the floating electrode while enabling an air discharge to the floating electrode.

The electronic paper display is imageable by receiving charges on an imaging surface of the electronic paper display.
