Systems and methods for generating routes taking into consideration user preferences for scenery, in addition to or alternatively to time, distance, and/or cost are provided. User preferences for scenery during a trip from one location to another can be quantified and used to augment standard routing methods by giving weight to scenic quality. For example, a weighting triangle can be used, where a user chooses a balanced weighting of three factors, including scenic quality, before a route from the starting location to the destination is generated.

Systems and methods for navigating based on scenic quality

Systems and methods for generating ground-level terrain elevation models, preparing vector street data to assist in generating such models, and finding approximate elevation of any point using such terrain models are provided. Lidar data can be analyzed, and Lidar elevation values at roadway/street intersections can be used to determine a model of the ground-level elevation in an area or region. Outliers can be removed. The ground-level elevation at any point in the mapped area can be determined using elevation levels for nearby roadway intersections.

Systems and methods for discovering and/or determining section types for a given document class in a data-driven manner are provided. A modified Bayesian model merging algorithm can be used, along with extending an Analogical Story Merging (ASM) algorithm. The systems and methods can learn the section structure of documents without a pre-existing ontology of sections or time-intensive annotation efforts.

Systems and methods for determining document section types

Systems and methods for automatically modeling the discourse structure of psychiatric reports and segmenting these reports into various sections are provided. The systems and methods can be based around a model that learns the section types, positions, and sequence and can automatically segment unlabeled text in a psychiatric report into the corresponding sections. Knowledge of the ordering of the sections can improve the performance of a section classifier and a text segmenter. A Hierarchical Hidden Markov Model (HHMM) can be trained and can categorize sections in psychiatric reports into a predefined section label.

Methods of communicating, displaying, and storing information relating to structures, as well as apparatuses for executing such methods, are provided. The methods can be executed on touchscreen electronic devices and may be particularly useful for shopping center, cruise ship, museum, and construction applications. The methods and apparatuses allow for, for example, reviewing a building's interior, finding information on areas within a building, and navigating from a current location to a destination. A method can include defining a structure using elements, wherein the elements are three dimensional shapes, and manipulating the elements or the structure on a user interface. A user is therefore able to obtain important information about the structure clearly and effortlessly.

Devices and methods for providing Voronoi diagram-based progressive continuous range query (CRQ) computation for location-based services are provided. A method can include indexing all interest points using a Voronoi R-tree data structure in a server-side computing device. When a client mobile device sends a CRQ request, the server-side device receives a path of travel and builds a list to store interest points and a min-heap to store split points, iteratively retrieving split points from the min-heap, and reporting the CRQ result progressively until a termination condition is reached.

Systems and methods for performing a mobile range query are provided. A system can include a first computer readable medium configured to iteratively transmit a mobile range query, as well as a second computer readable medium configured to: receive a mobile range query; compute a range query result; build two min-heaps that contain in-border interest points and out-border intersect points respectively; construct an initial candidate safe region by popping top elements in the two min-heaps while they are not empty; computing the intersections of the domain region of the top elements and the candidate safe region and redefining the candidate safe region using the intersections; and return the mobile range query results to the first medium.

Methods and systems for computing continuous k nearest neighbor (CkNN) queries in location based services for moving objects, to produce ordered kNN query results in a continuous and progressive manner, are provided. One method comprises receiving a continuous k nearest neighbor query, computing the initial set comprised of the k interest points nearest to the reference point and a set of remaining nodes stored in a distance-priority queue, generating and storing split points in a min-heap, iteratively moving current reference point to the nearest split point, swapping interest points, updating the corresponding split points in the min-heap, and reporting the kNN result progressively until a termination condition is reached.

A method can include transmitting a mobile window query, determining which interest point falls within a query window, defining a potential safe region, refining the safe region utilizing the surrounding interest points, and returning the interest points and safe region to a user.

Methods and apparatuses for providing a k-nearest neighbor for location based services are provided. A method can include querying a database to detect a plurality of interest points within a predetermined distance of the user device using a kNN algorithm, organizing the interest points within a Voronoi tree, and continuously return a position specific result of relevant interest points.

Techniques for geolocating social media are described. According to an embodiment, information from textual content of a non-geolocated social media data item stored in a database is extracted. A knowledge database is then searched for a cluster of geo-located social media data items to which the information most closely relates, and an estimated location is assigned to the non-geolocated social media data item according to the cluster to which the information most closely relates. Each cluster comprises one or more representative tags for a spatio-temporal region. The knowledge database is created from geolocated social media data by grouping data according to location and extracting representative tags from the location's grouping of data according to textual content as well as information related to reliability and truthfulness of the textual content.
