A slurry composition is described, which comprises 100 parts by weight of a raw mineral material for white ware and/or a raw mineral material for advanced ceramics, from 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of a re-dispersible resin powder, and water. A shaping using the slurry composition and a fired body are also described.

A mat or rug having a laminate structure is described composed of (A) a reverse side mat layer including (a) a laminated mat composed of (a.sup.1) base fabric and (a.sup.2) nonwoven fabric made of a thermoplastic resin fibrous binder, the base fabric (a.sup.1) and nonwoven fabric (a.sup.2) being united by needling, (b) cut piles made of a thermoplastic resin implanted from one side of the laminated mat (a), and (c) a resin adhesive layer formed by coating a liquid resin adhesive on the nonwoven fabric (a.sup.2) on the side opposite to the cut piles (b) and drying, (B) a thermoplastic resin adhesive layer, and (C) a surface mat layer, wherein the surface mat layer (C) is adhered via the thermoplastic resin adhesive layer (B) to the reverse side mat layer (A) on the side of reverse side mat layer (A) on which the liquid resin adhesive has been coated, wherein the cut piles (b) are implanted under the following conditions:

Mats and rugs and process for producing the same

A process for producing a carpet is disclosed, comprising laminating a backing material composition comprising 100 parts by weight, on a resin solid basis, of an aqueous emulsion of a resin having a glass transition point of not higher than 5.degree. C., from 120 to 400 parts by weight of hydraulic inorganic cement, and up to 600 parts by weight of a non-hydraulic inorganic filler on a carpeting surface base material and heating the laminate to harden and dry the backing material composition. A carpet in which a carpeting surface base material and a backing material (and a carpeting back base material, if used) are firmly and integrally bonded can easily be obtained. The carpet has excellent properties, such as flexibility (softness), dimensional stability (resistance to shrinkage), fit to a floor, and workability, in a good balance. Where a carpeting surface base material previously coated with a coating composition comprising a specific aqueous resin emulsion is used, a higher temperature can be applied in hardening and drying, which leads to increased productivity, and the resulting carpet has excellent pull strength of pile.

Process for producing carpet

A process for producing a composite laminate comprising a insert part and an injection-molded resin part by coating the insert part with a primer comprising a copolymer aqueous emulsion having a glass transition point of not higher than 20.degree. C. which is obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture consisting mainly of (a) from 35 to 75% by weight of an alkyl acrylate having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety thereof, (b) from 10 to 50% by weight of an alkyl methacrylate having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety thereof, (c) up to 15% by weight of styrene and/or acrylonitrile, the sum of the (b) and (c) components ranging from 15 to 55% by weight, (d) up to 5% by weight of a vinyl monomer selected from the group consisting of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid or an anhydride thereof, 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, 2-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylamide, and methylol(meth)acrylamide, and (e) up to 30% by weight of other vinyl monomer(s), drying the primer, inserting the insert part into a cavity of an injection mold, injecting a molten resin into the cavity to thereby unite the insert part and the injected resin molded part into one body. The composite laminate is resistant to thermal shocks or electrical shocks.
