The present invention provides a surface-modified inorganic nitride having excellent dispersibility. Furthermore, the present invention provides a composition, a thermally conductive material, and a device with a thermally conductive layer which contain the surface-modified inorganic nitride. The surface-modified inorganic nitride of the present invention includes an inorganic nitride, and a compound which is represented by General Formula (1) and is adsorbed onto a surface of the inorganic nitride.

A first object of the present invention is to provide a surface-modified inorganic nitride having excellent dispersibility. Furthermore, a second object of the present invention is to provide a composition, a thermally conductive material, and a device with a thermally conductive layer which contain the surface-modified inorganic nitride. The surface-modified inorganic nitride of the present invention includes an inorganic nitride, and a compound which is represented by General Formula (I) and is adsorbed onto a surface of the inorganic nitride. In General Formula (1), n represents an integer of 3 or greater. X represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring group or an aromatic heterocyclic group. Y represents a single bond, —O—, —CO—, —CO—O—, —O—CO—, —S—, —CS—, —NR—, —N═N—, or a divalent unsaturated hydrocarbon group. Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group. Rand Reach independently represent a substituent. Here, at least one of Ror Rrepresents a monovalent organic group containing a specific functional group selected from the group A of specific functional groups. In General Formula (1), a plurality of X's may be the same as or different from each other. Moreover, a plurality of Y's may be the same as or different from each other.

An object of the present invention is to provide a surface-modified inorganic nitride having excellent dispersibility. Furthermore, another object of the present invention is to provide a composition, a thermally conductive material, and a device with a thermally conductive layer which contain the surface-modified inorganic nitride. The surface-modified inorganic nitride of the present invention includes an inorganic nitride, and a compound which is represented by General Formula (I) and is adsorbed onto a surface of the inorganic nitride.

A first object of the present invention is to provide a surface-modified inorganic nitride having excellent dispersibility. Furthermore, a second object of the present invention is to provide a composition, a thermally conductive material, and a device with a thermally conductive layer which contain the surface-modified inorganic nitride. The surface-modified inorganic nitride of the present invention includes an inorganic nitride, and a specific compound adsorbed onto a surface of the inorganic nitride, and the specific compound has a functional group selected from the group consisting of a boronic acid group, an aldehyde group, an isocyanate group, an isothiocyanate group, a cyanate group, an acyl azide group, a succinimide group, a sulfonyl chloride group, a carboxylic acid chloride group, an onium group, a carbonate group, an aryl halide group, a carbodiimide group, an acid anhydride group, a carboxylic acid group, a phosphonic acid group, a phosphinic acid group, a phosphoric acid group, a phosphoric acid ester group, a sulfonic acid group, a halogenated alkyl group, a nitrile group, a nitro group, an ester group, a carbonyl group, an imidoester group, an alkoxysilyl group, an acrylic group, a methacrylic group, an oxetanyl group, a vinyl group, an alkynyl group, a maleimide group, a thiol group, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, and an amino group, and has a fused-ring structure containing two or more rings selected from the group consisting of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring and an aromatic heterocyclic ring.

The present invention has a first substrate having a high thermal conduction portion which has a thermal conductivity higher than that of other regions in a plane direction, a thermoelectric conversion layer which is formed on the first substrate, consists of an organic material, and has a thermoelectric conversion material having a positive Seebeck coefficient, a second substrate which is formed on the thermoelectric conversion layer and has a high thermal conduction portion having a thermal conductivity higher than that of other regions in the plane direction and in which the high thermal conduction portion does not completely overlap the high thermal conduction portion of the first substrate in the plane direction, and a pair of electrodes which are connected to the thermoelectric conversion layer and consist of a metal material having a negative Seebeck coefficient. As a result, there are provided a thermoelectric conversion element and a thermoelectric conversion module which can generate heat with excellent efficiency by using a thermoelectric conversion material consisting of an organic material.

Provided are a thermoelectric conversion element and a thermoelectric conversion module which can efficiently generate power by preventing heat from being accumulated in a cooling side even in a naturally cooled environment. The thermoelectric conversion element includes a substrate having a sheet-like low thermal conduction portion, a first high thermal conduction portion, and a second high thermal conduction portion, a thermoelectric conversion layer provided on the substrate, a coating layer covering the thermoelectric conversion layer, a third high thermal conduction portion which is provided on the coating layer, has thermal conductivity higher than that of the coating layer, and does not completely overlap the first high thermal conduction portion in a plane direction, and a pair of electrodes, in which the second high thermal conduction portion is thinner than the first high thermal conduction portion and separated from the first high thermal conduction portion in the plane direction, and at least a portion of the second high thermal conduction portion overlaps the thermoelectric conversion layer and the third high thermal conduction portion.

Provided are a thermoelectric conversion element and a thermoelectric conversion module using the thermoelectric conversion element. The thermoelectric conversion element has a first substrate having a high thermal conduction portion which has a thermal conductivity higher than a thermal conductivity of other regions, a thermoelectric conversion layer formed on the first substrate, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer formed on the thermoelectric conversion layer, a second substrate formed on the pressure sensitive adhesive layer, having a concave portion, which at least partially overlaps the high thermal conduction portion of the first substrate in a plane direction and is on the pressure sensitive adhesive layer side, and made of a metal material, and an electrode pair connected to the thermoelectric conversion layer. According to the present invention, a thermoelectric conversion element and a thermoelectric conversion module are obtained which improve the heat utilization efficiency and generate electric power with excellent efficiency.
