The porous-cellulose particles according to the present invention are constituted by gathered crystalline celluloses having a type I crystal form including a glucose molecule as a constitutional unit. That is, porous-cellulose particles having high sphericity have been achieved from a natural raw material. The porous-cellulose particles have an average particle diameter of 0.5 to less than 50 &#x3bc;m, a specific surface area of 50 to 1000 m/g, and a sphericity of 0.85 or more. Cosmetic products containing such porous-cellulose particles have excellent texture properties.

There is provided a spherical organic-inorganic composite particle having good biodegradability. The organic-inorganic composite particle according to the present invention includes 1 to 79% by weight of a silica component and 21 to 99% by weight of a biodegradable plastic. The organic-inorganic composite particle has an average particle diameter dof 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, a true density of 1.03 to 2.00 g/cm, and a sphericity of 0.80 or more. Provided is a repellent material capable of maintaining a stable repelling effect for a long period of time. A pest repellent material of the present invention includes porous particles including primary particles forming pores and aggregating, and an insect repellent component present in the pores. The primary particles contain silica as a component, and in an infrared absorption spectrum of the pest repellent material, a ratio (I/I) of the maximum absorbance (I) at 3730 to 3750 cmto the maximum absorbance (I) at 1160 to 1260 cmis 0.005 or less. A contact angle of the porous particles with water is greater than 90&#xb0;, and the contact angle of the porous particles with the insect repellent component is 1&#xb0; to 90&#xb0;. It is preferred that 2 to 5 ml of the insect repellent component is contained based on 1 gram of the porous particles.

The hollow particles according to the present invention has a balloon structure which includes a cavity inside a shell, and include convex portions with a size of 3 to 100 nm on the surface. The particles have a true specific gravity of 0.3 to 3.0 g/cm, a specific surface area (m/cm) per unit volume calculated by a BET method of not less than 0.5 and less than 60, and an average particle diameter (d) of 1 to 20 &#x3bc;m. The organic-inorganic composite particles of the present invention include a silica component and a biodegradable plastic. The present invention provides a dental curable composition used for dental filling restorative materials, dental crown prosthesis materials such as inlays, crowns, and bridges, materials for constructing anchor teeth, block materials for dental CAD/CAM, etc. More specifically, the present invention provides a dental curable composition comprising a curable resin (A), a porous inorganic filler (B), and a polymerization initiator (C), wherein the porous inorganic filler (B) comprises a silicon dioxide, and an oxide comprising at least one kind of the other metallic elements, and a ratio (I/I) of a maximum absorbance (I) of 3730 to 3750 cmto a maximum absorbance (I) of 3000 to 3600 cmin infrared absorption spectrum of the porous inorganic filler (B), is not less than 1 and not more than 3.

An object of the present invention is to provide a porous silica particle with the small specific surface area and the large pore volume, a method for producing the same, and a cosmetic containing the porous silica particle with such characteristics as the texture improver. The porous silica particle according to the present invention has a structure sparsely packed with silica microparticles. The mean particle diameter is 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, the specific surface area measured by the BET method is 5 to 60 m/cm, and the pore volume is 0.35 to 2.0 ml/g. In the pore size distribution of the porous silica particles (X axis: pore diameter, Y axis: value obtained by differentiating the pore volume by the pore diameter), the most frequent pore diameter (D) satisfies 100&#x3c;D&#x3c;4000 [nm].
