A method of manufacturing a secondary battery including an electrode body including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate, an outer package including an opening and housing the electrode body, a sealing plate sealing the opening, a negative electrode terminal attached to the sealing plate, a negative electrode tab portion provided in the negative electrode plate, and a negative electrode collector electrically connecting the negative electrode tab portion and the negative electrode terminal to each other, the method including welding a flange portion of the negative electrode terminal and the negative electrode collector together by projecting an energy ray, the negative electrode collector includes, before the welding, a rough surface portion, and in the welding, the flange portion of the negative electrode terminal and the negative electrode collector are connected by welding by projecting an energy ray onto the rough surface portion.

Method of manufacturing secondary battery

A secondary battery includes an electrode body including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate; a battery case containing the electrode body; a terminal attached to the battery case; a conductive member having an opening adjacent to the electrode body; a deformation plate that seals the opening, and a current collector. The positive electrode plate and a positive electrode terminal are electrically connected to each other via a first positive electrode current collector, the deformation plate, and the conductive member. The first positive electrode current collector has a through-hole. The deformation plate is disposed to face the through-hole. A portion of the first positive electrode current collector distant from the through-hole is welded to the deformation plate to form a weld.

Secondary battery

A secondary battery includes an electrode body including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate; a battery case containing the electrode body; a positive electrode terminal attached to the battery case; a conductive member having an opening adjacent to the electrode body; a deformation plate that seals the opening, and a current collector. The positive electrode plate and the positive electrode terminal are electrically connected to each other via a first positive electrode current collector, the deformation plate, and the conductive member. The deformation plate has a thick portion, which has a larger thickness than the surrounding area, in a central part. The thick portion of the deformation plate is welded to the first positive electrode current collector to form a weld.

A prismatic secondary battery of one configuration has a current disconnection mechanism, and a distance from a first conductive member to a second conductive member along a surface of a first insulation member and passing an outer periphery of the first insulation member is greater than or equal to 2.4 mm. At least one of the first insulation member and a second insulation member is formed from a material having a weight reduction percentage of 100% in thermo gravimetric measurement under conditions of a measurement temperature of 25&#xb0; C.-600&#xb0; C., a temperature increase rate of 5&#xb0; C.&#xb1;0.5&#xb0; C./min, a measurement atmosphere of inert gas flow, and an amount of measurement sample of 10 mg&#xb1;5 mg.
