A breather device includes a main body that includes a breather chamber with an inner bottom surface; a first communicating portion provided at the main body; a second communicating portion provided at the main body and at a position above the first communicating portion in a vertical direction and away from the first communicating portion in a horizontal direction; and a downward gradient provided at the inner bottom surface of the breather chamber, the downward gradient guides the oil that has entered the breather chamber through the first communicating portion toward the first communicating portion.

To provide an oil separator including multiple cones and having a simple structure and high trapping efficiency for oil mist. An oil separator can include multiple cones arranged in a line and a chamber for blow-by gas, which is formed in adjacent to the line of the cones, and arranged at an upper side surface of the cones, the chamber being provided with a flow-in port at a position in front of the line of the cones, in which upper outer peripheral walls of the cones at portions facing the chamber constitute partition walls provided with slits, which constitute inlets for the blow-by gas to enter the cones.

An electromagnetic PCV valve includes a valve seat, a valve element, a step motor for moving the valve element, and a housing that houses the valve seat, the valve element, and the step motor. When the valve element is moved by the step motor, a size (an opening degree) of a blow-by gas passage defined between the valve seat and the valve element is changed. The step motor is configured to selectively receive energization for moving the valve element and energization for holding the valve element in a fixed position. A heating apparatus of the PCV valveincludes a cover member and an output shaft that conducts heat generated in the step motor by energization to the valve element and the valve seat, and an electronic control unit (ECU) for conducting energization of the step motor to hold the valve element in the fixed position.

A total amount of engine oil carried from a crankcase into an intake passage by blow-by gas from the start of the use of the internal combustion engine or the engine oil is calculated. It is determined whether the total oil carried amount is greater or less than an optimum value every predetermined operation period of the internal combustion engine. Then, when it is determined that the total oil carried amount is greater than the optimum value, the gas flow rate of the blow-by gas controlled based on the engine operation state is reduced until next determination process is performed. When it is determined that the total oil carried amount is less than the optimum value, the gas flow rate is increased until next determination process is performed.

Apparatus and method for treating blow-by gas for internal combustion engine

An automatic transmission supplies oil pressure to a hydraulic servo of a second clutch through an oil pressure supply passage extending through a first drum and a second drum, the oil pressure supply passage including a plurality of first oil holes formed in the first drum at equal, circumferential intervals, a plurality of second oil holes formed in the second drum at equal, circumferential intervals, and an annular oil passage formed between the first and second drums and connecting the first oil holes and the second oil holes. The number of first oil holes is different from the number of second oil holes.

Oil pressure supply in an automatic transmission

A piston operating a first clutch is disposed between a first drum accommodating the first clutch and a second drum accommodating a second clutch, and an oil reservoir storing lubricating oil that has lubricated the first clutch is provided on an inner cylindrical surface of a skirt portion of the piston. Barriers having different inner diameters are provided to the axial front and rear of the oil reservoir. When the second clutch is disengaged such that the amount of lubricating oil supplied to the oil reservoir increases, the lubricating oil overflows the barrier having the smaller inner diameter, and thus flows to the second clutch.

Automatic transmission with lubricating structure

An intake passage has an upstream portion in an upstream side of a supercharger, an intermediate portion between a supercharger and a throttle valve, and a downstream portion in a downstream side of the throttle valve. A first breather passage connects an interior of an engine with the downstream portion. A second breather passage connects the interior of the engine with the upstream portion. Introduction passages communicate the upstream portion with the interior of the engine at a non-supercharging time, and connect at least one of the intermediate portion and the downstream portion with the interior of the engine at a supercharging time. Thus, the interior of the engine is efficiently ventilated.
