The TPM includes a register for storing data. A blob stores therein true hash values of the computer program and the BIOS in advance. The BIOS includes a hash value calculating unit that calculates hash values of the computer program and the BIOS and stores those hash values in the register. The TPM compares the hash values stored in the register with the hash values stored in the blob and decrypts information in the blob if the hash values agree with each other.

An image processing apparatus includes a reading unit, an acquiring unit, a transmission control unit, and a printing control unit. The reading unit reads images of multiple pages of originals. The acquiring unit acquires device information from connected child devices. In an optical disk recording method adapted to record information on an optical disk by a light beam incident to the disk in one direction, the disk has a plurality of rewritable recording layers including a first layer nearest to a plane of incidence and a second layer distant from the plane of incidence. Prior to recording the user data to a requested address in the second layer when the target layer is the second layer, a partial region of the first layer corresponding to a same radial position as the requested address in the second layer is set to either a non-recorded state or a recorded state depending on a characteristic of the disk. The user data is recorded to the requested address in the target layer.

An information recording and reproducing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a running power controlling and recording unit and an interval adjusting unit which adjusts an interval for performing running power control and makes a suitable ROPC operation possible even if conditions for recording information are changed. When the ROPC operation is not to be performed, it is determined whether the data recording is finished, and when the data recording is finished, the operation ends. When it is determined to change the interval for performing the ROPC operation, the interval for performing the ROPC operation is changed.
