Provided is an optical laminate having excellent resistance to the pressure from the surface and a display device including the same. The optical laminate includes a surface protective layer, a first pressure sensitive adhesive layer, a light absorption anisotropic layer, and a second pressure sensitive adhesive layer in this order, in which an indentation elastic modulus of the first pressure sensitive adhesive layer is greater than an indentation elastic modulus of the light absorption anisotropic layer, the light absorption anisotropic layer is a layer formed of a composition for forming a light absorption anisotropic layer containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, and a thickness of the light absorption anisotropic layer is less than 5 μm.

Optical laminate and display device

An optical film that, when being used in an image display device, it is possible to suppress a change in redness with respect to an original image in images reflected in surroundings, a manufacturing method of a light absorption anisotropic layer, and an image display device. The optical film includes a light absorption anisotropic layer which contains a liquid crystalline compound and a dichroic substance, in which an angle θ between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal direction of a surface of the light absorption anisotropic layer is 0° or more and 45° or less, and a haze value of the optical film is more than 1% and 20% or less.

A light absorption anisotropic film that, in a case of being applied to an image display device, it is possible to suppress redness of an image originating from the image display device, which is reflected on surrounding members arranged around the image display device; and an optical film and an image display device. The light absorption anisotropic film is formed of a composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, in which the light absorption anisotropic film has two main surfaces facing each other, an angle between a normal direction of the main surface of the light absorption anisotropic film and a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic film is 0° to 45°, and predetermined requirements are satisfied depending on the angle.

Light absorption anisotropic film, optical film, and image display device

Provided is an optical film and an electroluminescence display device that suppress a decrease in transmittance of a front surface and suppress a change in tint in an oblique direction with respect to the front surface, in a case of being used in a micro LED. The optical film includes a light absorption anisotropic layer containing a dichroic coloring agent compound, in which the light absorption anisotropic layer has an absorption axis in a normal direction of the film and has an alignment degree of 0.7 or greater at 530 nm, and in a case where transmittances at 460 nm, 530 nm, and 630 nm in a direction of 45° with respect to the normal direction of the film are respectively defined as Tb, Tg, and Tr, relationships of Expressions 0.1≤Tb/Tr≤0.5 (1) and 0.2≤Tg/Tr≤0.6 (2) are satisfied.

Optical film and electroluminescence display device

A light absorption anisotropic layer in which, when combined with a λ/4 plate to form a circularly polarizing plate, applying the circularly polarizing plate to a display device, and displaying a display screen in black, coloration is suppressed and utilization efficiency of infrared light is high, a laminate including the light absorption anisotropic layer, a display device, an infrared light irradiation device, and an infrared light sensing device. The light absorption anisotropic layer contains an organic dichroic coloring agent, and satisfies expressions (1) to (4). (1) P(450)>99%, (2) P(550)>99%, (3) P(650)>99%, and (4) A(750)<0.2, here, P(450) represents a polarization degree at a wavelength of 450 nm, P(550) represents a polarization degree at a wavelength of 550 nm, P(650) represents a polarization degree at a wavelength of 650 nm, and A(750) represents an average absorbance at a wavelength of 750 nm.

Light absorption anisotropic layer, laminate, display device, infrared light irradiation device, and infrared light sensing device

Provided is a viewing angle control system and an image display device which are capable of controlling the viewing angle of a display screen in a longitudinal direction and improving the visibility in a specific lateral direction. The viewing angle control system includes a polarizer, and a light absorption anisotropic layer, in which the polarizer has an in-plane absorption axis in a film, an angle θ between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal line of the film is in a range of 0.1° to 45°, and an angle φ between a direction in which the transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer is orthographically projected onto the film surface and the absorption axis of the polarizer is 0° or greater and less than 85°, greater than 95° and less than 265°, or greater than 275° and 360° or less.

Provided is an organic EL display device including an optical laminate, and a foldable device formed of the organic EL display device. Provided is an optically anisotropic film, an optical film, and a display device, which have a high contrast and excellent light fastness. The optically anisotropic film includes a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, in which the liquid crystal compound is vertically aligned, the dichroic substance forms an arrangement structure, and in a case where, in a cross section observed with a scanning transmission electron microscope, a length of a major axis of the arrangement structure is defined as L, and a length of a minor axis of the arrangement structure is defined as D, 16 or more arrangement structures satisfying L≥30 nm are observed per 40 μm.

Reflective screen and projection image display system

A polymer liquid crystal compound with which a light absorption anisotropic film having a high alignment degree can be formed, a liquid crystalline composition, a light absorption anisotropic film which is formed of the liquid crystalline composition, a laminate, and an image display device. The liquid crystalline composition includes a polymer liquid crystal compound which contains a repeating unit represented by Formula (1) and a dichroic substance. In Formula (1), a difference between a log P value of P1, L1, and SP1 and a log P value of M1 is 4 or greater. In Formula (1), P1 represents a main chain of the repeating unit, L1 represents a single bond or a divalent linking group, SP1 represents a spacer group, M1 represents a mesogenic group, and T1 represents a terminal group. 

Liquid crystalline composition, polymer liquid crystal compound, light absorption anisotropic film, laminate, and image display device

An object of the present invention is to provide a laminate in which the coloring of reflected light is reduced. The laminate includes an optical film having a light absorption anisotropic film formed using a composition including a dichroic substance and having a transmittance of more than 50%, a &#x3bb;/4 plate, and a metal electrode in this order, in which in a case where a degree (%) of polarization at a wavelength of &#x3bb; of the optical film is defined as P(&#x3bb;) and a reflectance (%) at the wavelength of &#x3bb; of the metal electrode is defined as R(&#x3bb;), a ratio of a minimum value of R/P to a maximum value of R/P at wavelengths of 450 nm, 550 nm, and 650 nm is more than 85%.

Laminate

An object of the present invention is to provide a light-absorbing anisotropic film having an excellent degree of alignment of a dichroic azo coloring agent; an optical laminate including the same; and an image display device using the same. The light-absorbing anisotropic film according to an embodiment of the present invention is a light-absorbing anisotropic film which is formed of a liquid crystal composition containing a dichroic azo coloring agent compound, a liquid crystalline compound, and a compound represented by Formula (1) and has a front transmittance of 60% or less, and in which a content mass ratio of the dichroic azo coloring agent compound to the liquid crystalline compound is 5% to 35% by mass. 

Light-absorbing anisotropic film, optical laminate, and image display device

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an optical laminate in which an alignment defect is less likely to occur in a light-absorbing anisotropic layer even in a case where a surface of a photo-alignment layer is rubbed; an optical laminate; and an image display device. The method for manufacturing an optical laminate according to an embodiment of the present invention is a method for manufacturing an optical laminate in which an optical laminate including a photo-alignment layer and a light-absorbing anisotropic layer and having a front transmittance of 60% or less is produced and which includes a photo-alignment layer formation step of forming a photo-alignment layer on a polymer film, and a light-absorbing anisotropic layer formation step of applying a liquid crystal composition containing a dichroic substance and a high-molecular liquid crystalline compound onto the photo-alignment layer to form a light-absorbing anisotropic layer.
