An image display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present technology includes a first light source module, a second light source module, an output control unit, and an image generation unit. The first light source module emits a first laser light. The second light source module includes a light source unit that emits a second laser light and a phosphor layer that emits visible light by excitation by the second laser light. The output control unit controls outputs of the first laser light and the second laser light on a basis of an average and a dispersion of luminance values in pixels of an input image. The image generation unit generates an image on a basis of the first laser light emitted from the first light source module and the visible light emitted from the second light source module.

A projection type display device, in which efficient cooling is performed in a remarkably silent manner, includes: a light source unit; an optical unit for modulating illumination light output from the light source unit based on input image information; two power source sections and; a box for housing the optical unit, the light source unit and the power source sections; and a cover member for entirely covering at least an upper surface of the box, wherein an outlet for externally exhausting air in the box by using axial fans is provided only on a bottom side of the box. Liquid crystal panels that are held by the optical unit frame absorb the illumination light from the light source unit and thus have different increased temperatures. Cooling air blown through an outlet of a sirocco fan that is directly connected to the optical unit frame is divided by a cooling air reservoir and a distribution sheet into predetermined air quantities in accordance with the temperatures of the liquid crystal panels so that the quantities of air obtained by the division are directly sent to the liquid crystal panels.

A projector having flat outside surfaces when not in use and a control panel disposed at an upper portion of a main body of the projector during use. A front cover is provided with a control panel on its back side and is rotatably supported on the main body by double hinge mechanisms such that the projector is box-shaped when the front cover is stored in a storage position for covering the front side of a projection lens, and a surface of the front cover is inclined and directed to the rear upper side of the projector main body when the front cover is rotated from the storage position to an open position. Loudspeakers are incorporated in the cover so that the loudspeakers are projected at an upper portion of the main body when the front cover is rotated from the storage position to the open position.

An electrostatic recording head used for forming an electrostatic latent image of an image to be recorded on a recording medium comprises a plurality of electrode groups, each group including a plurality of needle-like electrodes. The needle-like electrodes of all the groups are arranged linearly in at least one line. A plurality of auxiliary electrodes are disposed such that each of the electrode groups faces at least one of the auxiliary electrodes. An auxiliary electrode driving unit drives the auxiliary electrodes independently of each other. Each of the electrode groups is divided into a plurality of subgroups, each subgroup including at least one of the needle-like electrodes. A subgroup driving unit is provided for each of the subgroups for driving the subgroups independently of each other. A control circuit controls the subgroup driving unit and the auxiliary electrode driving unit so that the subgroups belonging to one of the electrode groups are driven in such an order that a plurality of subgroups which are not adjacent to each other are simultaneously driven, while at least one of the auxiliary electrodes facing the one electrode group is driven during at least a time interval when any one of the subgroups is driven.

An electrostatic recording apparatus for recording an image represented by a series of binary signals delivered by an image signal source on a recording medium which is moved relative to the apparatus comprises a recording head including a multiplicity of thin strip-shaped recording electrodes having end surfaces substantially aligned on a line substantially perpendicular to a direction of the relative movement of the recording medium, each of the end surfaces having a thickness measured in a direction substantially perpendicular to the line which is smaller than its width measured in a direction parallel to the line, and image signal applying device for sequentially applying a series of binary signals delivered by the image signal source and representative of the image, to the multiplicity of recording electrodes to form the image on the recording medium by dots produced thereon corresponding to the binary signal in such a manner that each of the binary signals is applied equally at a plurality of times to one of the recording electrodes while moving the recording medium relative to the recording head thereby forming one dot corresponding to that binary signal.
