A planar light source includes a substrate, light sources, and at least one partitioning member. The partitioning member includes first wall parts, second wall parts, and partitioned regions. The first wall parts define first ridges extending in a first direction. The second wall parts define second ridges extending in a second direction. The partitioned regions each is surrounded by the first ridges and the second ridges in a plan view. the partitioned regions are arranged in the first and second directions. At least one first cut is defined on at least one of the first ridges. At least one second cut is defined on at least one of the second ridges. The at least one first cut and the at least one second cut are spaced apart from each other. At least one of the light sources is arranged in a corresponding one of the partitioned regions.

Partitioning member, planar light source, and liquid crystal display device

A planar light source has a plurality of light sources, a substrate, and a partitioning member. The partitioning member includes a first member provided with first partitioned parts each having a first bottom part and first oblique parts surrounding the first bottom part that are arranged on the substrate in a matrix, and a second member provided with second partitioned parts each having a second bottom part and second oblique parts surrounding the second bottom part that are arranged on the substrate in a matrix. The first member further has first outer oblique parts overlapping the second oblique parts located along the outer edge of the second member on the first member side. The first bottom parts and the second bottom parts each have a light source disposition opening, and the light sources are individually disposed on the substrate exposed in the light source disposition openings.

An inclined surface of the first light-transmissive member has a height above the coupling portion is lower than a height above the housing portions with reference to the bottom surface of the first recessed portion.

Method for manufacturing light emitting device, light emitting device, and light emitting module

A planar light source includes a substrate, light sources, and a partitioning member. The partitioning member defines partitioned regions arranged in a first direction and in a second direction that intersects the first direction. At least one of the light sources is arranged in a corresponding one of the partitioned regions. The partitioning member includes a plurality of first wall parts defining a plurality of first ridges extending in the first direction, and a plurality of second wall parts defining a plurality of second ridges extending in the second direction. The first wall parts define at least one first cut on at least one of the first ridges. At least one of the partitioned regions is surrounded by the first ridges and the second ridges in a plan view and includes an opposing pair of the first wall parts and an opposing pair of the second wall parts.

A surface light source includes a plurality of light sources, a substrate, a first member disposed on the substrate and including a plurality of recessed first demarcating portions each including a first inclined portion and a first bottom portion and one or more recessed second demarcating portions each including a second inclined portion and a first opening, and a second member overlying a portion of the first member and including a third inclined portion overlapping with the second inclined portion, a fourth inclined portion adjacent to the third inclined portion and not overlapping with the second inclined portion, a second bottom portion located inside the first opening, and a third bottom portion continuous with a lower end of the fourth inclined portion, and the plurality of light sources being respectively disposed on the substrate exposed in the first bottom portion, the second bottom portion, and the third bottom portion.

Demarcating member, demarcating structure body, surface light source, and liquid-crystal display device

A planar light source includes a mounting substrate, a plurality of light sources, a partition member, a frame body, a wavelength conversion member, and a light diffusion plate. The light sources are arranged two-dimensionally on the mounting substrate in a plan view. The partition member includes a wall portion surrounding each of the light sources except for outermost ones of the light sources in the plan view. The wall portions are located inward of the outermost ones of the light sources. The frame body has a bottom portion and a lateral wall surrounding the mounting substrate. The wavelength conversion member is disposed on the lateral wall of the frame body. The light diffusion plate is disposed above the plurality of light sources and the wavelength conversion member.

Planar light source

A planar light source includes an irregular-shaped mounting substrate, light sources arranged along first and second directions in a plan view, and a light diffusion plate including a thick plate portion and a thin plate portion outward of outermost light sources in the plan view. In the first direction, a distance between an optical axis of one first distal-end light source of one array and an outer edge of the light diffusion plate is greater than a distance between that of another first distal-end light source of another array and the outer edge. In a plan view, the thin plate portion has a width along a straight line along the first direction from the optical axis of the one first distal-end light source toward the outer edge greater than a width along a straight line from the optical axis of the second distal-end light source toward the outer edge.

There is provided a backlight capable of easily eliminating a bright portion generated near lateral surfaces of a light guide plate, even when a plate-like reflective member is brought close to the lateral, surfaces of the light guide plate. The backlight includes, a light guide plate including a light emission surface, a reflective surface, and at least one of the lateral surface as an incident surface, a light source disposed to face the incident surface, a reflective member which is disposed to face another lateral surface other than the incident surface and includes a diffusion reflective surface, and an adhesive member for adhering the reflective member to the another lateral surface of the light guide plate, wherein a length of the adhesive member in a thickness direction of the light guide plate is smaller than a thickness of the light guide plate.

Backlight

A side edge planar lighting unit includes a light emitting diode, a light guide plate, and a transparent flexible resin between the light emitting diode and the light guide plate. The light emitting diode and the light guide plate are brought into close contact by the transparent flexible resin. The light guide plate includes a light exit face on a first main surface, a reflective face on a side opposite the light exit face, and a recessed portion in a first side edge. The recessed portion includes the light entrance face on a bottom surface, a pair of light entrance side faces facing each other across the light entrance face, and an anti-slip portion made of an uneven structure on at least one of the light entrance side faces. The transparent flexible resin is fitted in the recessed portion of the light guide plate.

Side edge planar lighting unit

A light-emitting device used in a linear array of a plurality of them includes a semiconductor light-emitting element, a substrate on which the semiconductor light-emitting element is mounted, and a light-transmitting sealing resin formed on the front surface of the substrate to seal the semiconductor light-emitting element. Of each of the peripheral edge surfaces of the substrate and the sealing resin, at least one side surface that faces in the direction of the array is inclined in the array direction.
