The aqueous ink for ink jet contains a resin particle dyed with a fluorescent dye, and a water-soluble resin. The fluorescent dye contains a fluorescence-emitting dye selected from the group consisting of basic dye, disperse dye and oil-soluble dye, the resin particle has a core portion that contains an aromatic group-containing unit and cyano group-containing unit, and a shell portion that contains an aromatic group-containing unit, an anionic group-containing unit and a crosslinking agent-derived unit, but free of cyano group-containing unit, percentage (% by mass) of the crosslinking agent-derived unit in the shell portion is 30% by mass or more to 80% by mass or less, the water-soluble resin having an aromatic group-containing unit and an anionic group-containing unit, and the water-soluble resin having an acid value of 100 mgKOH/g or more to 180 mgKOH/g or less.

Aqueous ink, ink cartridge and ink jet recording method

Provided is an aqueous ink for ink jet, containing a resin particle, and a cyclic amide-based, water-soluble organic solvent. The resin particle has a core portion that contains a cyano group-containing unit, and a shell portion that contains an aromatic group-containing unit, an anionic group-containing unit and a unit derived from a crosslinking agent, but free of cyano group-containing unit. Ink jet recording using the aqueous ink can record images that excel in abrasion resistance and gloss clarity.

A recording medium includes a substrate and an ink receiving layer that includes inorganic particles and a binder. The inorganic particles include fumed silica particles. The binder includes a resin having a glass transition temperature of 20&#xb0; C. or less. The content of the binder in the ink receiving layer is 40% by mass or more of the content of the inorganic particles included in the ink receiving layer.

Recording medium with enhanced flexibility

A recording medium includes a substrate and an ink receiving layer that includes inorganic particles and a binder. The inorganic particles include at least one type of alumina particles selected from fumed alumina particles and hydrated alumina particles. The binder includes a resin having a glass transition temperature of 20&#xb0; C. or less. The content of the binder in the ink receiving layer is 25% by mass or more of the content of the inorganic particles included in the ink receiving layer.

A recording medium including a substrate and an ink receiving layer on the substrate, the ink receiving layer containing inorganic particles and a water-soluble resin. The recording medium has an HM1 of 40 N/mmor less and has a rate of change of HM2 to HM1 of 400% or less. HM1 is a Martens hardness when an indenter is pushed at a 500 mN load over 180 seconds from a surface of the recording medium into a 1 &#x3bc;m depth in a thickness direction thereof. HM2 is a Martens hardness when the indenter is pushed up to a position where the indenter is not in contact with the surface and is then pushed at a 500 mN load over 180 seconds from a pressing starting position into a 1 &#x3bc;m depth in the thickness direction at the same point as that at which the indenter is first pushed.

A method of manufacturing an electrically conductive member having an electrically conductive film on a surface of a substrate, comprising the steps of: (i) forming a layer containing a colloid on a porous surface of a substrate having at least the porous surface by applying a colloidal solution and (ii) forming an electrically conductive layer by drying the layer containing the colloid.
