A connector includes a housing that has a plurality of terminal receiving chambers into which terminals are inserted and a rear holder that is mounted at the housing and supports a wire connected to the terminal received in each terminal receiving chamber. In the connector, the rear holder has a terminal holding part that holds each terminal at a predetermined position in an insertion direction of the rear holder into each terminal receiving chamber.

Connector

A connector includes a housing that has a plurality of terminal receiving chambers into which a terminal is inserted, each terminal receiving chamber being provided with a housing flexible piece for retaining and locking the terminal, and a rear holder that is mounted at the housing, abuts on the housing flexible piece and restrains locking release of the housing flexible piece. In the connector, the rear holder has a holder locking protrusion for retaining and locking the terminal in each terminal receiving chamber.

In a stamping step, when a stamping terminal piece formed as a connector terminal is stamped, an electric wire crimping part is stamped and extended from a chain part in a direction perpendicular to a feeding direction, an electric contact part is stamped and extended from the electric wire crimping part in a direction parallel to the feeding direction and a range to which a gold plating is applied by a gold plating step is not overlapped on a range to which a tin plating is applied by a tin plating step in the feeding direction.

Method for manufacturing connector terminal and connector terminal

A connector includes a housing to be inserted into a receiving chamber of an initiator, a plurality of terminal receiving chambers which are opened to a distal end face of the housing in parallel with each other in a row, and terminals respectively provided with pin inserting parts into which pins in the receiving chamber are inserted, and respectively received in the terminal receiving chambers. Each of the pin inserting parts has an elastic contact piece which is elastically contacted with the pin which has been inserted into the pin inserting part thereby to hold the pin in the pin inserting part. The terminals are received in the terminal receiving chambers so that the elastic contact pieces push the pins in a direction which is the same as a direction to which the terminal receiving chambers are arranged.

An engagement portionof a locking member, which is inserted through a locking member insertion holeinto a connector housing, is engaged with the connector housing. Additionally, a connector terminalaccommodated in a connector housingis locked with the locking member. The locking memberincludes a pair of fitting pieces, each of which is provided with said engagement portionand supported resiliently. An engagement release toolis inserted into the connector housingthrough an engagement release holeprovided on the connector housing. Then, the engagement release tooldeflects the fitting pieceto release an engagement of the engagement portionof the fitting piecewith the connector housing

Electrical connector

A lock portion for a connector which is adapted to disengageably lock connector housings which are adapted to be engaged with each other by locking an engaging portion provided on the male housing with a latch portion provided on the female housing, characterized in that flexible lock arms which are fixed on a horizontal wall of the female housing so as to extend in an engaging direction includes the latch portion at an opposite side, and a disengaging lever portion which is connected at its one end to the latch portion so as to extend along the lock arms, and which rotates with the latch portion around a support portion which is abutted movably against the horizontal wall by pushing a finger touch portion for lock disengaging operation in a backward end, whereby a locked condition will be disengaged.

Locking structure for connector

A connector housing has an abutment surface with which a front end surface of an opposing connector is brought into contact at a time of fitting to the opposing connector. Terminal metal fittings are inserted to positions rearward from the abutment surface from terminal insertion holes in the connector housing. A retainer is moved to a regular engagement position from a temporary engagement position so as to prevent the terminal metal fittings from falling off rearward, and is provided with a projection extending forward from the abutment surface of the connector housing.

In a waterproof connector,of the present invention, female terminals,, each having a box-like electrical contact portion,, are received respectively in terminal receiving chambers,in a housing,, and a mat seal,, having a plurality of wire-sealing insertion holes,, is provided at rear ends of the terminal receiving chambers,. The box-like electrical contact portion,of a square cross-sectional shape is formed into such a modified polygonal cross-sectional shape that one of a pair of opposed sides of the square cross-sectional shape is smaller in length than the other. A mat seal cover,, cooperating with the housing,to hold the mat seal,therebetween, has a plurality of terminal insertion holes,, and the terminal insertion hole,has a shape which is analogous to and slightly larger than the modified polygonal cross-sectional shape.

Waterproof connector

A terminal provided with a contact surface to be brought into contact with a mating terminal. In order to improve the strength of the contact surface, the terminal is constructed so that an elastic contact leaf is provided inside a square cylindrical contact portion into which a mating terminal is inserted and that the contact surface expanding in the direction of the elastic contact leaf is formed in a wall portion opposite to the elastic contact leaf in the contact portion. The contact surface is formed into a plane shape where the length of the central portion is set to be greater than the length of both sides in the direction of inserting the mating terminal.

Terminal

A terminal with a locking member capable of surely preventing damage of the locking member even in case the terminal inserted and locked in a connector housing is pulled reversely. An electric contact portion of the terminal has a cantilever-like locking member and protection walls for the locking member thereby to engage the locking member with a locking step of the connector housing, and further engaging-arm portions are provided on the locking member and arm-engaged portions engaging with the engaging-arm portions are also provided on the protection walls. Projections may be provided on free end portions of the engaging-arm portions. Further, as another type of locking member, extending walls each having an abutting edge, which abuts against the locking step when the terminal is pulled reversely, may be provided on a locking member. Different type of engaging-arm portions and engaging openings relative to the engaging-arm portions may be formed on the extending walls and on the protection walls, respectively. A reinforcing piece may be provided over the locking member to reinforce it. Thus, a terminal with a locking member capable of surely preventing damage of the locking member on being pulled reversely can be realized.

A locking arm (35) engages with a terminal (26) inserted into a terminal storage chamber (23) of a housing (21) thereby to prevent the terminal (26) from being come out therefrom. A front holder (22) is slid to the housing (21) from the front side of the housing (21) and attached to the housing (21), whereby an excessive deformation prevention plate (45) of the front holder (22) covers the outside of the locking arm (35) thereby to prevent the excessive deformation of the locking arm (35). The housing (21) is provided with an insertion hole (39) which slidably receives the tip portion (45a) of the excessive deformation prevention plate (45) therein and supports the tip portion, whereby the deformation of the excessive deformation prevention plate is prevented.

A connector is arranged in a manner that a locking arm 35 is bent and engages with a terminal 26 which is inserted within a terminal storage chamber 23 of a housing 21 thereby to prevent the terminal 26 from being come out from the housing, and the front holder 22 is slid from the front face side of the housing 21 to move from the provisionally locking position to the formally locking position so that the detection plate 46 of the front holder 22 detects the complete insertion of the terminal 26 into the terminal storage chamber 23. An excessive deformation prevention plate 45 is integrally formed at the tip portion side of the detection plate 46 in a manner that, when the front holder 22 locates at the provisionally locking position, the excessive deformation prevention plate covers the outside of the locking arm 35 so as to have a bending deformation space 48 for the locking arm 35 therebetween and prevents the excessive deformation of the locking arm 35 toward the direction for releasing the engagement with the terminal 26. The detection plate 46 has a step portion 50 protruding to the locking arm 35 side relative to the excessive deformation prevention plate 45.

A lock arm deformation prevention construction for preventing the plastic deformation of an elastic lock arm so as to prevent a mutually-fitted condition of connectors from being affected. In the lock arm deformation prevention construction, a lock arm (3) is formed on a connector housing (2) of first connector (1), and displacement prevention piece portions (4) of an elastic nature are provided between the lock arm (3) and that surface of the connector housing (2) having the lock arm formed thereon, and abutment piece portions (6) are formed on a press portion (5), formed at an end portion of the lock arm (3), in an opposed relation respectively to the displacement prevention piece portions (4). Abutment cancellation ribs (7) for respectively displacing the displacement prevention piece portions (4) when the male and female connectors are fitted together are formed on a housing (9) of the second connector (8).

Lock arm deformation prevention construction

In a connector terminal press-fitting construction, a terminal is press-fitted into a terminal press-fitting hole formed in a wall of a housing, and a press-fitting portion of the terminal is held by holding portions provided in the terminal press-fitting hole, thereby fixing the terminal. Rear-side holding portions for a front portion of the press-fitting portion of the terminal are formed at a rear end portion of the terminal press-fitting hole, and front-side holding portions for a rear portion of the press-fitting portion of the terminal are formed at a front end portion of the terminal press-fitting hole, and are disposed at such a position that the front-side holding portions are irrelevant to the holding of the front portion of the press-fitting portion when the front portion passes through the front end portion of the terminal press-fitting hole. In addition, a region, which is irrelevant to the holding of the terminal, is provided between the rear-side holding portions and the front-side holding portions.

Connector terminal press-fitting construction

Waterproof connector in which the inner wall of a waterproof rubber packing is prevented from being damaged and waterproof function is not deteriorated. The waterproof connector comprises: a terminal accommodating chamber; and a waterproof rubber packing mounted on a terminal insertion side of the terminal accommodating chamber, wherein a side wall of the terminal accommodating chamber on the terminal insertion side has notches to form a resilient wall.
