There is provided an electromagnetic relay including (a) a coil assembly including a core, a coil wound around the core, and a magnet located at the center of the coil assembly, (b) an armature block assembly including an armature swingable relative to the core, a spring swingable together with the armature and having a contact at a distal end thereof, and an insulating block formed integral with the armature and the spring, (c) a base assembly including a fixed contact facing to the spring, a fixed contact terminal on which the fixed contact is formed, a neutral terminal to be electrically connected to the spring, a coil terminal to be electrically connected to the coil, and an insulating block formed integral with the fixed contact, the fixed contact terminal, the neutral terminal, and the coil terminal, and (d) a cover housing therein the coil assembly, the armature block assembly, and the base assembly, the cover including (d-1) an enclosure having both a bottom edge defining an open bottom, and an insulating external surface, (d-2) a plurality of projections formed on the bottom edge so that the projections can support the enclosure while the enclosure stands, and (d-3) a shield metal plate covering an inner surface of the enclosure therewith, the shield metal plate having extensions extending along and beyond the projections. The electro-magnetic relay has enhanced shielding characteristic, and as a result, can quickly respond to high frequency input signals.

Electro-magnetic relay and cover used for the same

There is provided an electro-magnetic relay including (a) a coil assembly including a core, a coil wound around the core, and a magnet located at the center of the coil assembly, (b) an armature block assembly including an armature swingable relative to the core, a spring swingable together with the armature and having a contact at a distal end thereof, and an insulating block formed integral with the armature and the spring, (c) a base assembly including a fixed contact facing to the spring, a fixed contact terminal on which the fixed contact is formed, a neutral terminal to be electrically connected to the spring, a coil terminal to be electrically connected to the coil, and an insulating block formed integral with the fixed contact, the fixed contact terminal, the neutral terminal, and the coil terminal, and (d) a cover housing therein the coil assembly, the armature block assembly, and the base assembly, the cover including (d-1) an enclosure having both a bottom edge defining an open bottom, and an insulating external surface, (d-2) a plurality of projections formed on the bottom edge so that the projections can support the enclosure while the enclosure stands, and (d-3) a shield metal plate covering an inner surface of the enclosure therewith, the shield metal plate having extensions extending along and beyond the projections. The electro-magnetic relay has enhanced shielding characteristic, and as a result, can quickly respond to high frequency input signals.

In a surface mount type leadless electromagnetic relay, movable contacts, movable contact springs, stationary contacts and terminals which are electrically connected to external circuit from coils are formed integrally with a base formed of an insulating material. The terminals are extended to the bottom of the body of the relay. The entire relay has a height and a mounting area which are respectively equal to the height and mounting area of its body.

Surface mount type leadless electromagnetic relay

An electromagnetic relay of a flat configuration which can switch electric contacts by producing a seesaw movement of an armature. The relay has an armature assembly having moveable contacts, a coil assembly implemented as a coil spool having a core and wound with a coil, and an insulating base supporting stationay contacts, coil terminals, and connection terminals. The coil assembly is built in the base by affixing the coil terminals of the coil assembly to coil terminals of the base, and then the base is molded to cover the whole coil assembly except for both ends of the core and a bore for receiving a permanent magnet. The base, therefore, fully spaces apart the joints of the coil terminals and the contacts and spaces apart the coil and the contacts.

Electromagnetic relay

Disclosed is a piezoelectric actuator comprising a pair of piezoelectric elements, bistable snap-action means, and projectile means attached to the snap-action means in an impact receiving relationship alternately with the piezoelectric elements. The projectile means has a mass sufficient to acquire an acceleration upon impact from each of the piezoelectric elements to cause the snap-action means to change state. The snap-action means may comprise an elongated bending element squeezed endwise between supports, the projectile means being carried by bending element at a point intermediate its ends.

Piezoelectric latching actuator having an impact receiving projectile

A miniature relay having dimensions in the order of 30 mm.times.24 mm.times.4 mm is driven by an expansion type piezoelectric actuator element. The actuator drives an interconnected series of lever arms which rest on a mounting block. The actuator rests on an anchor block. The coefficients of thermal expansion for the actuator, the mounting block and the anchor block are mutually cancelling.

Piezoelectric relay with a piezoelectric longitudinal effect actuator

In an electromagnetic relay, a first stationary contact member (25) has a first, elongated portion (25a) extending between first and second insulative supports and a second portion (25b) extending in a direction normal to the first portion. The second portion includes a first stationary contact (25c) element and a heat radiating surface (25b, 25f) for radiating a substantial amount of heat generated by an arc so that the amount of heat which is conducted to the first support (13) is insufficient to cause a fusion to occur therein. A second stationary contact member (26) has a third, elongated portion (26a) extending between the first and second supports and a fourth, elongated portion (26b) extending in a direction normal to the third portion in spaced relationship to the second portion (25b) and having a second stationary contact element (26c) in opposed relationship with the first stationary contact element. A coiled-core structure is secured between the insulative supports for operating a movable contact member between the first and second stationary contact elements.
