A lightning protection system for a wind turbine blade, includes: a receptor disposed in a tip portion of the wind turbine blade; a leading edge protection portion made of a metal and electrically connected to the receptor and disposed so as to cover a leading edge of the wind turbine blade; a down conductor connected to the receptor; at least one connecting conductor for electrically connecting the leading edge protection portion and the down conductor at a position between the receptor and a blade root in a blade spanwise direction of the wind turbine blade; and a first current sensor for measuring a current flowing through a blade tip-side portion which is a portion, of the down conductor, between a blade tip and a connection point with the at least one connecting conductor in the blade spanwise direction.

A wind turbine blade includes: a blade body; a down conductor extending along a longitudinal direction of the blade body; and at least a pair of magnetic field sensors disposed inside the blade body and at opposite positions across the down conductor, a pair of magnetic field sensors being configured to detect a local magnetic field at each of the positions. At least the pair of magnetic field sensors includes: a first sensor disposed on a first axis passing through an installation position of the down conductor in a cross section intersecting the longitudinal direction; and a second sensor disposed on a second axis passing through the installation position and being orthogonal to the first axis in the cross section.

Wind turbine blade protection structure and method of forming the same

A power-converter controller is provided in a wind turbine generator which is interconnected to a utility grid and in which a generator generates electrical power by rotation of a rotor having blades. The power-converter controller includes a voltage sensor that measures a generator terminal voltage, resonance-component extracting sections that extract an electrical resonance component generated due to the interconnection from a measurement result measured by the voltage sensor, and a control section and a control section that control a current that flows to the utility grid so as to suppress the resonance component, on the basis of the resonance component extracted by the resonance-component extracting sections. Accordingly, the power-converter controller can more effectively suppress the resonance generated due to the interconnection of the wind turbine generator to the utility grid.

Wind turbine generator control system and method that suppresses an electrical resonance component

A wind turbine generator includes a synchronous generator that generates electric power via rotation of a rotor provided with blades that receive wind and that supplies the generated electric power to a utility grid, and a sea water resistor in which sea water serves as a resistive element. When the output power of the synchronous generator drops suddenly because of a momentary power interruption caused by a fault occurring on the utility grid, thus producing surplus energy, the sea water resistor consumes, in the form of electric power, the surplus energy that cannot be supplied to the utility grid from among the electric power generated at the synchronous generator. Because the sea water resistor uses sea water as the resistive element, the problem of heat generation hardly ever arises, and because the sea water can be easily exchanged, it is not affected by lifetime or on-time limitations.
