A power converter stabilizes a voltage by controlling leading of an AC current and performs maximum charging within contracted power reception amount when connected to a weak power system. The power converter comprises Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch comprising a bridge circuit including at least two reverse conductive type semiconductor switches and a magnetic energy accumulating capacitor with a small capacity connected between DC terminals of the bridge circuit. The power converter uses the Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch to perform power conversion from AC to DC or vise versa. Plurality of secondary battery charging devices each comprising the power converter have a DC part connected to a common DC bus bar, so that power is accommodated among the secondary battery charging devices.

A hologram recording/reproducing device includes a recording/reproducing optical unit performing recording and reproducing operations on a hologram recording/reproducing medium. The optical unit includes a laser light source emitting laser light; a spatial-light modulator generating signal light and reference light from the laser light, the signal light and reference light having a common light path; a phase mask disposed near the modulator or in a conjugate plane of the modulator and transmitting at least the reference light; and an objective lens including a first lens portion and a second lens portion. In a micro mirror apparatus pivoting on a hinge part as its axis, a movable part connected to a stationary part through the hinge part enhances exclusively the flexural rigidity of the hinge part without causing any significant change in the torsional rigidity of the hinge part and thus widens servo band. To this end, on at least a part of the hinge part , a protrusion protruding in the direction of its thickness is formed. This greatly increases the flexural rigidity of the hinge part and widens the servo band.

A disc-shaped recording medium for which information signals are recorded and/or reproduced in a state in which a rotating recording and/or reproducing head is floated a pre-set distance from a signal recording region carrying surface of the disc-shaped recording medium. The disc-shaped recording medium has an area radially outside of the outer perimeter of center opening by at least 0.1 mm clamped by a clamp mechanism. This area is coplanar as each surface of the disc-shaped recording medium carrying the signal recording region. A surface processing method by blowing submicron particles is disclosed, in which submicron particles are blown against a surface of a work to deposit a layer of the material of the particles on a surface of the work, or etching the surface of the work. The processing method uses blowing air stream containing submicron particles having average particles size ranging between 0.01 and 3.0 .mu.m. The deposition or etching is effected depending on an incident angle of the particles to the surface of work. According to the method deposition of the material can be effected with very high deposition rate and in case of etching very smooth etched surface is obtained.

A method of manufacturing a floating magnetic head device includes forming a pedestal on a substrate by positioning and adhering a plurality of blocks each having a plurality magnetic head elements, on the substrate in a manner that the magnetic gaps between the magnetic head elements are linearly arrayed and so the blocks are parallel and equidistantly spaced. A resist mask having a predetermined slider surface shape is formed on the blocks and injection of a solid/gaseous two-phase current of free abrasive grains and gas is carried out through an injection nozzle. The pedestal is then sliced into individual slider units.

Method of manufacturing floating magnetic head device

A method for manufacturing a magnetic transducer head in which a track width regulating grooves provided on both edges of a magnetic gap are filled by blowing a powder beam of nonmagnetic material having a very fine particle size to deposit the nonmagnetic material in the grooves. A pair of magnetic core members are bonded together to form a magnetic gap therebetween by providing a metal layer of a bonding surface of the core members and applying a pressure to the core members under an elevated temperature to cause a mutual diffusion of the metal to bond the core members together. Thus the magnetic transducer head can be made without using a high-temperature heat treatment.
