A backlight device wherein LEDs which are arranged side by side at a first arrangement interval (P1) are provided to each LED unit. The LED units are mounted to a flexible board at a second arrangement interval. A light guide plate is disposed in such a manner that an end surface thereof is spaced from the LEDs by a distance (H). The light guide plate is disposed so as to satisfy the following relationship: first arrangement interval (P1)&#x3c;distance (H)&#x3c;second arrangement interval (P2). Specifically, the LEDs are arranged side by side in such a manner that the first arrangement interval (P1) is not less than 0.1 mm but not greater than 3 mm and the second arrangement interval (P2) is not less than 5 mm but not greater than 15 mm. The light guide plate is disposed in such a manner that the distance (H) is not less than 1 mm but not greater than 7 mm.

Backlight device

A backlight device wherein LEDs which are arranged side by side at a first arrangement interval (P) are provided to each LED unit. The LED units are mounted to a flexible board at a second arrangement interval. A light guide plate is disposed in such a manner that an end surface thereof is spaced from the LEDs by a distance (H). The light guide plate is disposed so as to satisfy the following relationship: first arrangement interval (P)&#x3c;distance (H)&#x3c;second arrangement interval (P). Specifically, the LEDs are arranged side by side in such a manner that the first arrangement interval (P) is not less than 0.1 mm but not greater than 3 mm and the second arrangement interval (P) is not less than 5 mm but not greater than 15 mm. The light guide plate is disposed in such a manner that the distance (H) is not less than 1 mm but not greater than 7 mm.

A display has light emitting elements, a first driver, a power source, and a second driver. Each light emitting element includes 'n' emission layers formed one over another to form a color dot in each pixel. The first driver drives the emission layers to emit light or no light. The power source passes a current through the first driver to the light emitting element. The second driver individually weights the n emission layers and makes the emission layers emit light so that each dot may express a gradation level.

Display with multiple emission layers

An optical unit for use in a backlight device of a liquid crystal display apparatus, includes a light-diffusing component to diffract incident light and a light-collecting component having multiple microlenses each having a shape of a hemisphere- or semi-oval-like protrusion on a light-emitting side of the light-collecting component. The components are provided in this order on an optical path of light emitted from a light source of the backlight device. The light-diffusing component includes a diffusing section having a first surface that faces the light source and an opposite second surface, and first and second prisms provided on the first and second surfaces, respectively. Each prism has a cross section like a teeth of a saw. Each first prism has a summit protruding towards the light source. Each second prism has a summit protruding in an opposite direction of the first prism.

Optical unit, backlight device, liquid crystal module and liquid crystal display apparatus

An optical unit for use in a backlight device of a liquid crystal display apparatus, has a first light-collecting and -diffusing optical component, a light-collecting optical component, and a second light-collecting and -diffusing optical component, provided in this order on the optical path of light emitted from a light source. Each light-collecting and -diffusing optical component has a surface provided on which are a plurality of microlenses each having a shape of a hemisphere- or semi-oval-like protrusion, with light collecting and diffusing functions. The light-collecting optical component has a surface provided on which are a plurality of prisms each having a saw-teeth like section, with a light collecting function. Each surface is provided on a light-emitting side of the optical unit.

A recording and reproducing apparatus has a rotary drum on which at least two rotary magnetic heads are mounted with 180 degree-symmetry to a center shaft of the drum. One of the magnetic heads has a magnetic gap set with an azimuth angle of 90 degrees or less in a clockwise direction to a track width direction on a magnetic tape. The other magnetic head has a magnetic gap set with an azimuth angle of 90 degrees or less in a clockwise direction to the track width direction. A video signal is sequentially and selectively recorded on the magnetic tape so that first tracks each corresponding to one picture video signal are repeatedly recorded on the magnetic tape while continuously travelling at a speed V/n in a first direction, and second tracks each corresponding to the one picture video signal are repeatedly recorded so that one of the second tracks is sandwiched between the two of the first tracks while the magnetic tape is continuously travelling at the speed V/n in a second direction opposite to the first direction, where V is a predetermined speed and n is a natural number. The video signal may be recorded while the magnetic tape is stopped after intermittent transfer by a distance corresponding to a two track-width in the first or the second direction.

Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus

A video tape recorder has a drum for winding a magnetic tape therearound, a capstan motor and a drum motor linked with the drum, both motors for traveling the magnetic tape, and two rotary magnetic heads arranged adjacent to each other relative to the magnetic tape and having two different azimuth angles. One reproduced signal of higher signal level is selected from two modulated signals reproduced by the two magnetic heads to output a detected reproduced signal. Sampling signals are generated each having a signal level corresponding to a signal level of the detected reproduced signal on the basis of the reproduced signal obtained by the selected magnetic head, only during a period while a predetermined one of the two magnetic heads is being selected in response to a head select signal, at each of time intervals obtained by dividing one vertical scanning period into a two or more natural number N. A central axis of the drum is inclined in such a way that the respective signal levels of the sampling signals satisfy a predetermined relative relationship with respect to one another, when recorded signal is reproduced by traveling the magnetic tape at a travel speed different from another travel speed of the magnetic tape in recording operation. And, rotation phase of the capstan motor is changed relative to a reference drum rotation signal of the drum motor.

Tracking error data detecting apparatus and VTR having the same apparatus

An apparatus processes an analog audio signal having been stored in a recording medium in a recording order and being reproduced therefrom in a reverse order of the recording order and at a speed .alpha. (.alpha..gtoreq.1) times higher than a recording speed to the recording medium. The analog signal is converted to digital audio signals and written in a memory having head and final addresses. The digital audio signals read from the memory are converted to an output analog audio signal. A controller controlling writing and reading the digital audio signals to and from the memory has a read address controller for controlling read addresses of the memory such that the read addresses repeatedly reciprocate between the head and final addresses. The controller controls the writing such that, if .alpha.&gt;1, the writing starts in sequence from the head or final address when the read address reaches in the vicinity of an address which advances by (.alpha.-1) / .alpha. of all the addresses after returned at the head or final address, whereas if .alpha.=1 the writing starts in sequence from the head or final address immediately after the read address returning at the head or final address.
