A disk device includes magnetic disks, a magnetic head, a suspension, and a carriage. The suspension includes a flexible substrate on which the magnetic head is mounted. The carriage includes an arm to which the suspension is attached. The arm includes opposing first and second end surfaces, a side surface extending between the first end surface and the second end surface, and a protruding body that protrudes from the side surface and has a first surface parallel to and spaced apart from the first end surface and a second surface parallel to and spaced apart from the second end surface. The flexible substrate includes a strip extending along the side surface. The strip includes a portion positioned between the first end surface and the protruding body in the axial direction and is positioned between the first end surface and the second end surface in the axial direction.

According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a recording medium of a disk form, a magnetic head, a housing, and a first protective member made of a resin. The recording medium includes a recording layer. The magnetic head is configured to read/write information from/to the recording medium. The housing includes a base provided with an inner chamber in which the recording medium and the magnetic head are accommodated, a cover that covers the inner chamber, and a welded part at which the base and the cover are welded to each other. The first protective member is located outside the housing, to cover at least part of the welded part.

According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a first actuator assembly and a second actuator assembly which are respectively supported by a first bearing unit and a second bearing unit to be rotatable about a support shaft. The first bearing unit includes a first sleeve and a ball bearing. The second bearing unit includes a second sleeve and a ball bearing. The first sleeve includes a first end surface opposed to the second sleeve and an annular first step projecting from the first end surface, and the second sleeve includes a second end surface opposed to the first step with a gap and an annular second step projecting from the second end surface. The second step is opposed to the first step and the first end surface with a gap.

A flexible printed circuit assembly includes a flexible printed circuit board including a base portion and a relay portion extending from a first edge of the base portion and capable of being bent relative to the base portion, a first reinforcing member disposed at the relay portion, and a second reinforcing member attached to a first region of the base portion that includes a second edge opposite to the first edge and having an engaging portion. The first region of the base portion is capable of being folded back towards a second region of the base portion that includes the first edge, and the engaging portion of the second reinforcing member is capable of being engaged with the first reinforcing member.

According to one embodiment, a disk drive includes a housing, a disk recording medium in the housing, a drive motor, a head, a carriage configured to support the head for movement, and a flow regulation member between the recording medium and a sidewall of the housing, except for a moving region for the carriage. The flow regulation member includes a shroud member, which is located substantially flush the recording medium and adjacently faces the outer peripheral edge of the recording medium, and a plurality of fins protruding from the shroud member and configured individually to guide an airflow passing along a surface of the recording medium toward the outer periphery of the shroud member and prevent a backflow toward a center of the recording medium.
