An ink composition is an ink composition including titanium dioxide particles, metal oxide particles, a dispersant, and water, in which an average particle diameter of the titanium dioxide particles is 100 nm or greater, an average particle diameter of the metal oxide particles is smaller than the average particle diameter of the titanium dioxide particles, and the metal oxide particles are oxide particles of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of zirconium, aluminum, silicon, zinc, and iron.

An image forming method includes an ink applying step of applying an ink composition containing a pigment, a compound represented by the following structural formula (1), a compound represented by the following structural formula (2) and water, onto a recording medium being conveyed at a conveyance speed of 80 m/min or higher: wherein l, m and n each represent an integer of 1 or more (l+m+n=3 to 15); AO represents ethyleneoxy or propyleneoxy; R represents a hydrocarbon group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms; PO represents propyleneoxy; EO represents ethyleneoxy; and p and q represent integers that satisfy the relations: 0&#x2266;p&#x2266;10 and 1&#x2266;q&#x2266;50.

Image forming method

The invention provides an image forming method including at least applying an ink composition to a recording medium to form an image, the recording medium having an absorption amount of the ink composition, within 20 msecfrom a start of contact of the ink composition with the recording medium, of 20 ml/mor larger according to the Bristow method and being conveyed in a feed direction at a conveying speed of 80 m/min or higher, and the ink composition containing at least a pigment, a compound represented by the following Formula (1), wax and water. In Formula (1), each of l, m, and n independently represents an integer of 1 or more; the sum of l, m, and n is from 3 to 15; and each AO of (AO), (AO), and (AO)independently represents an ethyleneoxy group or a propyleneoxy group. 

An ink composition for ink jet recording with excellent ink storage stability, which makes it possible to solve the problems concerning blurring or strike through and perform printing with high density and high image quality, is provided. An ink jet recording method which makes it possible to carry out printing with high density and image quality while causing little strike through, using the ink composition, is also provided. The ink composition for ink jet recording, contains at least water, a coloring material, a block polymer that has an ethylene oxide moiety and a propylene oxide moiety, and is gelled at 50&#xb0; C. or higher and 150&#xb0; C. or lower, and a polymer latex.

An inkjet ink composition includes a sulfoxide compound, a water-soluble dye having an aromatic heterocycle in a molecule, water and a water-soluble organic solvent, wherein the sulfoxide compound has a content of from 1% by weight to less than 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. An inkjet recording method includes using an inkjet printer having a silicon oxide layer or a silane coupling layer in at least part of a component with which ink is brought into contact, and ejecting an inkjet ink composition from the inkjet printer to record an image on an inkjet recording medium, wherein the inkjet ink composition contains a sulfoxide compound, a water-soluble dye, and the sulfoxide compound has a content of from 1% by weight to less than 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.

Disclosed is an inkjet recording yellow ink comprising at least one water-soluble azo dye selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (Y) described below and a salt thereof and at least one glycol ether represented by formula (A) described below, wherein the glycol ether is contained in an amount of 25% by mass to 100% by mass relative to a total amount of water-soluble organic solvent in the ink. 

To provide inks and ink sets for inkjet recording, which have good fastness and good jet-out stability and which give good images with no bleeding trouble, yellow ink, black ink and magenta ink for inkjet printing contain at least two dyes each having an oxidation potential over 1.0 V (vs SCE).
