A disposable diaper that includes a front waist region, a rear waist region, and a crotch region extending therebetween. An end portion of the rear waist region is provided with an elastic member associated with a waist-opening. The diaper has transversely opposite side edges and upper and lower edges. A plurality of slits extend through the diaper in its thickness direction and in a longitudinal direction so as to be spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in a waist-surrounding direction between the side edges. The slits are also spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in the longitudinal direction between a vicinity of the upper edge and a vicinity of the lower edge.

A disposable article for dealing with feces adapted to be used in conjunction with a disposable diaper or diaper cover. The article includes a feces receiving region that is provided in the form of a laminate that includes a top layer provided with at least one opening having an area of 20&tilde;500 mm , a feces holding layer in the form of a three-dimensional network structure underlying the top layer, a liquid-absorbent layer underlying the holding layer and a liquid-impervious back layer covering a lower surface of the absorbent layer. The laminate has its width progressively reduced toward a front end of the feces receiving pocket and a leakage barrier is formed along transversely opposite side edges of the top layer.

A surface of the fixed subsection opposed to the lower side of the body is joined to the lower side and opposite end sections of the barrier flaps are collapsed inward of the body and joined to the upper side of the body at the opposite ends of the body.

A diaper is folded along a first folding guide line extending in a transverse direction of the diaper so as to divide its longitudinal dimension in two toward the outer surface of a backsheet, then along a pair of second folding guide lines extending in parallel to each other in the transverse direction of the diaper and lying between the first folding guide line and longitudinally outer ends of front and rear waist regions toward an outer surface of a topsheet and finally along a pair of third folding guide lines extending in parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction of the diaper along transversely opposite side edges of an absorbent core toward an outer surface of the backsheet in any one of the front and rear waist regions.
