A mobile communication terminal is disclosed that is capable of utilizing detection result data obtained by detection means for detecting position, direction, attitude and/or movement in a platform-independent application program that can be registered and used by users. When downloading an application program to a mobile communication terminal and executing it, first, the application execution environment is activated and the application program is executed under the environment. The started application program sends an acquisition request for acceleration data to the phone platform. When the phone platform accepts the acquisition request, it passes acceleration data detected by an acceleration sensor to the application program. Accordingly, the application program can perform a process utilizing the acceleration data.

Mobile communication terminal and application program

Acceleration and attitude angles are measured by sensors mounted on a moving object and the measurement results are collected. The measurement results of acceleration are separated into low-frequency acceleration components and high-frequency acceleration components, and a time-rate-of-changes of attitude angles are calculated based on the measurement results of the attitude angles. After finishing extraction of the high-frequency acceleration components and the low-frequency acceleration components, and finishing calculation of the time-rate-of-changes of attitude angles, the rotation contributing acceleration and translation contributing acceleration are estimated based on the high-frequency acceleration components, the low-frequency acceleration components, the attitude angles and the time-rate-of-change of attitude angles. As a result, a translation contributing acceleration which contributes to a translational movement of a moving object, and a rotation contributing acceleration which contributes to a rotational movement of the moving object are estimated with improved accuracy.

Method for acceleration estimation, acceleration estimating apparatus, and mobile terminal

The application () requests a basic processing part () to execute character input processing, depending on the character input request from the user during display of a graphics window managed by an application (). The execution environment part (), which received the character input processing request, notifies the basic processing part () of the character input processing request, and turns in a display blocked state. After that, characters are input under the control of the basic processing part (). When character input is terminated, the basic processing part () closes the display of the character input screen to notify the execution environment part () of the termination of the character input and the character input result. The execution environment part (), which received the notice, releases the display blocked state and notifies the application () of the termination of the character input and the character input result data.

Method for input characters, apparatus thereof, and mobile communication terminal

When an application activation instruction is input, it is decided whether the application is expected to access a high-level protection resource or low-level protection resource (step S). If the decision is affirmative, display is done to prompt the user to select whether to permit activation of the application (step S). When the user inputs an activation permission instruction, the application is activated (steps Sto S). As a result, only when the user permits an application, which is expected to access a high-level protection resource or low-level protection resource, to access a predetermined resource immediately before its execution, the application is executed. Hence, the basic processing part and application can operate in cooperation with each other while limiting access to various kinds of resources by the application in a reasonable range.

Resource access control for mobile terminal

A mobile communication terminal is provided whose operability is improved by enabling a user to promptly use a function that the user requires, upon suspension of execution of an application program. A mobile communication terminal (mobile phone)includes an output unithaving a liquid crystal display (LCD)that displays an image; a main control unitthat controls the output unit; and an application program executing and managing unitthat executes an application program registered by a user. The application program executing and managing unitsends a function transition request instruction (screen transition request instruction) to make a transition to a function specified by the application program, to the main control unit, upon suspension of execution of the application program. Based on the function transition request instruction (screen transition request instruction), the main control unitcontrols the output unitto display an initial screen of the function or a menu screen for selecting the function.
