A storage apparatus mounted in a rack includes: a battery that is placed on a front surface side of a power supply and supplies power during a backup operation; a drive mounting unit that is placed in front of the battery and has drives mounted thereon; a midplane that is placed between the battery and the drive mounting unit and relays signals and power; and a sub-midplane that is placed between the midplane and the battery and relays signals and power from the power supply and the battery, wherein the midplane and the sub-midplane are coupled to each other by a bus bar for supplying the power from the power supply, and an air passage that is capable of supplying cooling air from an intake port, formed on the front surface, to the battery without allowing the cooling air to pass around a periphery of the drives is provided.

Storage apparatus

In a storage device provided with a plurality of recording devices, the vibrations which propagate to the recording devices through a board can be reduced with a small number of parts. A storage device equipped with a plurality of recording devices having: a canister equipped with the recording device; a board equipped with a circuit that transmits a signal to the recording device or processes a signal; a chassis equipped with the board and the canister; a plate-like piezoelectric element attached to part of the board; a vibration detection sensor attached to part of the board; and a control unit that controls a drive signal given to the piezoelectric element in accordance with a sensor output of the vibration detection sensor is proposed.

Storage device

A storage device having a plurality of recording devices in which a decrease in vibrations from the recording devices can be achieved with a small number of parts. A storage device having a plurality of recording devices mounted therein includes a handle for inserting and withdrawing the recording device into and out of the storage device. Two holding members each include a mounting portion where the recording device is mounted and a frame extending from the mounting portion to the handle. Two protrusions are formed to extend inwardly of a region surrounded by the recording device, the handle, and the two frames. A restriction plate is disposed so as to overlap the respective surfaces of the two protrusions; and a viscoelastic body is disposed at the overlapping portion for joining the two protrusions and the restriction plate to one another.

To reduce vibration in the rotation direction acting on the hard disk drive with a part of the hard disk drive as the rotation center. The disk unit comprises a hard disk drive comprising a drive mechanism which rotates and drives a plurality of disk media, an arm rotatably supported on a pivot and placed as movable in the rotation area of the disk media, and an actuator which performs positioning control of the magnetic head fixed to the arm to a target position on the disk media, a frame supporting the hard disk drive, and a dynamic absorber placed in the hard disk drive or in the frame, wherein the dynamic absorber absorbs vibration in the rotation direction acting on the hard disk drive with a part of the hard disk drive as the rotation center.

Disk unit and disk array apparatus

Disclosed herein is a sound absorbing system used for an electronic device that has enhanced noise reduction capabilities, while maintaining the cooling performance of the device and without increasing the size of the device. A disk array has multiple fans installed on each of the right and left sides of its front section. A frame that houses a sound absorbing system is placed in the middle of an airflow path through which air passes from the fans. Two sound absorbers are arranged inside the frame such that each of the sound absorbers faces the right-side or left-side fans. Airflow paths through which air passes from the fans are located in the space between the two sound absorbers. The airflow paths are partitioned by an acoustic board such that each of the airflow paths does not have parallel side faces. The frame, the sound absorbers, the acoustic board, and the airflow paths constitute the sound absorbing system. The sound absorbers and the acoustic board are made of sound absorbing materials such as glass wool, urethane foam, and the like. The sound absorbers and the acoustic board are arranged such that they prevent the fans from being seen from the outside of the sound absorbing system.

Sound absorbing system for electronic device

The invention proposes a cooling structure of a storage apparatus in which cooling air in a chassis is stirred or evened out without affecting the layout in the chassis. The storage apparatus includes fan devices that introduce outside air to heat areas generated from heat generating members arranged on a logical substrate which constitutes a controller unit section for inputting and outputting a data to and from a hard disk drive in response to a data I/O request from a host system, cool the heat areas by stirring the cooling air therein or by causing the cooling air to blow evenly thereon, and discharge the outside air passed through the heat areas to the outside.
