The optical sensor of the present disclosure includes: a light source configured to emit irradiation light to a target; a light receiver configured to receive a first incident light, a second incident light, and a third incident light travelling from the target and having different wavelength bands; and a controller configured to control the light source. The light receiver includes: a first light-receiving element configured to receive the first incident light and the second incident light and not to receive the third incident light; and a second light-receiving element configured to receive the third incident light and to receive neither the first incident light nor the second incident light.

An optical sensor of the present disclosure detects light from a sheet on which is printed at least one type of single-color ink among n types of single-color inks, the optical sensor including: a light source; a light receiver including first to (n−1)th light-receiving elements; a memory configured to store a correction value based on reference data obtained by receiving lights emitted from the first to n-th single-color inks individually in the light receiver by type of single-color inks; and a controller configured to correct detection data with the correction value, the detection data obtained by receiving, in the light receiver, light emitted from a sheet irradiated with light from the light source.

Optical sensor, paper sheet identification device, paper sheet processing device, and light detection method

An optical sensor of the present disclosure detects light reflected by a transported sheet and/or light transmitted through the sheet as well as light emitted from the sheet. The optical sensor includes: a light source configured to irradiate a sheet with excitation light and detection light; a controller configured to keep the light source turned off during each of light-off periods after the emission of the excitation light; and a light receiver configured to receive light resulting from reflection of the detection light by a sheet and/or light resulting from transmission of the detection light through the sheet in each of the light-on periods and receive phosphorescence emitted from the sheet in each of the light-off periods. The controller is configured to generate data of one pixel by summing up output values based on respective phosphorescence components received by the light receiver in each of the light-off periods.

Optical sensor, paper sheet identification device, and paper sheet processing device

One object is to correct with a high accuracy a plurality of magnetic sensors arranged inside a small magnetic detection apparatus. The magnetic detection apparatus that detects magnetism of a paper sheet being transported includes a plurality of magnetic sensors arranged in a linear manner in a direction orthogonal to a transport direction of the paper sheet; an excitation member having a plate-shape that extends in an arrangement direction of the plurality of magnetic sensors; and a control unit that generates a calibration magnetic field by passing an electric current in the arrangement direction through the excitation member, and obtains a correction value for correcting variation in sensitivity of the plurality of magnetic sensors based on detection results of the calibration magnetic field detected by the plurality of magnetic sensors.

Magnetic detection apparatus

A magnetic property determination apparatus that determines the magnetic materials on a paper sheet transported through a transport path includes a magnetization unit and a magnetic detection unit. The magnetization unit generates a magnetization magnetic field including a first magnetic field region and a second magnetic field region on the transport path. A magnetic field intensity and a magnetic field direction are set different between the first magnetic field region and the second magnetic field region so that the magnetic materials are magnetized in different magnetization directions depending on coercive forces of the magnetic materials. The magnetic detection unit that generates a bias magnetic field on the transport path downstream in a transport direction of the magnetization unit, and that detects a magnetic charge of the magnetic materials by detecting variations of the bias magnetic field.

Magnetic property determination apparatus and magnetic property determination method

A magnetic property determination apparatus that detects a magnetic property of each magnetic material included in a paper sheet transported through a transport path and determines the magnetic materials. The magnetic property determination apparatus includes a magnetic detection unit that generates on the transport path a bias magnetic field having a magnetic field direction inclined to a transport surface of the paper sheet by a specific angle and detects the magnetic charge of the magnetic materials by detecting variation of the bias magnetic field; and a magnetization unit that is arranged upstream of the magnetic detection unit in the transport direction and magnetizes the magnetic materials by generating on the transport path a magnetization magnetic field having a magnetic field direction oriented in a direction different from the direction of the bias magnetic field. At a position at which the magnetic detection unit detects the magnetism, the magnetic materials are in a state in which the magnetic materials are magnetized in mutually different magnetization directions according to coercive force thereof.

A magnetic property detection apparatus that detects magnetic properties of a magnetic material included in a paper sheet transported through a transport path includes a magnet unit that generates a magnetic field that is perpendicular to a direction of transport of the paper sheet in the transport path and parallel to a transport surface of the paper sheet, of which magnetic field intensity decreases as the paper sheet is being transported in the transport direction, and after the magnetic field intensity has reached 0 (zero), the magnetic field intensity increases with the magnetic field being directed in a reverse direction; and a plurality of magnetic sensors arranged in the magnetic field generated by the magnet unit at locations at which the magnetic field intensity are mutually different, and that detect the magnetic properties of the paper sheet being transported through the transport path. The magnetic properties of the magnetic material included in the paper sheet are detected based on output signals of the plurality of magnetic sensors acquired when the magnetic material is detected.
