A mobile radio communication device for an automatic toll collection system executes toll charging processing and travel guide. It communicates with road-side communication devices at an entrance gate and an exit gate in a toll charge area to receive map data. It also receives present position information from a GPS receiver circuit. It executes processing necessary for toll charging based on the received map data and present position information. It also provides a travel guide in the toll charge area.

Mobile radio communication for automatic toll collection system

If acquisition of measured position and time data (position/time) from a position detection unit fails, a 'GPS OFF mode' is set, and the latest position and time data is stored as start data. Thereafter, when the position and time data is obtained successfully, and the operation is recovered from the 'GPS OFF mode', the &#x201c;GPS OFF mode&#x201d; is cancelled. Also, the obtained position and time data (restoration data) is stored. Monitor data is formed from the start data and the restoration data. The monitor data is transmitted to a management center through road-vehicle communication. Also, history data of the position and time stored in the position detection unit during the &#x201c;GPS OFF mode&#x201d; is read. If the history data satisfies the toll charging condition, the toll charging data is formed and is transmitted to the management center.

An object of the present invention is to provide a task completion confirmation system for vehicles which allows crew members to carry out their tasks correctly by automatically displaying the tasks which have been completed. A garbage truck goes to a plurality of garbage collecting areas to collect garbage. When the garbage truck comes near or reaches the garbage collecting area, a communication device is capable of communicating with a response device in a display plate. It writes into a storage circuit data indicating garbage collecting points, progress of task, and the like, based on the communication. Accordingly, the crew members are able to collect garbage at each of the garbage collecting areas, without making any mistakes.

Task completion confirmation system for vehicles

An antenna system, comprising an antenna for transmitting a radio wave of a frequency, and a radio wave absorber intercepting and absorbing part of the radio wave to reduce the gain of the antenna. Thereby, the antenna system narrows down the communication area of the radio wave independently of the frequency. The antenna system is applicable to a movable object discriminator using a radio wave.

Antenna system with a limitable communication area

A first member and a second member are coupled so as to form a flat card path therebetween. The card path is open at one end of each of the first and second members. A plurality of guide holes are formed in the first member so as to open to the card path. The guide holes are substantially perpendicular to the card path. A plurality of light-emitting elements are respectively mounted in the guide holes such that a light-emitting direction of each light-emitting element crosses the card path. A plurality of photodetector chambers are formed in the second member such that each photodetector has an optical axis aligned with that of each light-emitting element. An automotive driving instruction system which comprises a plurality of sensors including a vehicle speed sensor etc. mounted at various parts of the automobile, a computer for reading the outputs of the sensors for calculating the driving conditions of the automobile, and a replaceable external memory unit. The computer calculates a plurality of values representing the driving conditions of the automobile on the basis of the outputs of the sensors, and controls to generate an alarm when any of the values thus calculated becomes to corresponding one of a plurality of predetermined values. Also, the accumulated value of the alarms and the respective accumulated values of the alarms for each of causes of alarming are stored in the external memory unit. At the end of a driving, the external memory unit is demounted, so that any habits of the driver is determined from the data stored in the external memory unit to contribute to the correction thereof.

Automotive driving instruction system

A small portable memory device has optical connectors except for those connecting with an external power source. The memory device incorporates a semiconductor memory and information such as address and data information are applied externally by means of light beams. The light signals applied to the device are converted into electrical signals by phototransistors and the address and data information applied externally, one bit at a time, are temporarily stored in a shift register incorporated in the device. When the received input attains a predetermined number of bits, the semiconductor memory is accessed to effect the writing or reading of data. When reading the data, electrical signals indicative of the data to be read are converted into light signals by a light-emitting diode and are delivered from the device in the form of light signal.

A magnetic card recording apparatus records information with a desired predetermined high recording density on a magnetic card moving at a varying speed. The apparatus comprises guide means for guiding a moving magnetic card, a magnetic head disposed to contact with the magnetic card moving through the guide means, an electric signal generator having a movable member moved in response to the movement of the magnetic card, a voltage signal generator for receiving the output signal of the electric signal generator to generate a voltage signal of a magnitude proportional to the moving speed of the magnetic card, an oscillator oscillating at a frequency proportional to the magnitude of the output voltage signal of the voltage signal generator, a converter for converting an input information signal on the basis of an output signal of the oscillator, and a writing controller for controlling the recording of an output signal of the converter on the magnetic card.

Magnetic card recording apparatus

In a method for magnetically recording a vehicle condition, a voltage proportional to a vehicle speed is sampled at a predetermined interval and converted into a code signal which is temporarily memorized by a memory. When the memorized data reach a predetermined amount, the data are transferred to be recorded by a magnetic tape for a period which is short enough not to prevent the memory from memorizing. When all the data have been recorded, a completion signal is generated to stop the tape, whereby the inter record gap is limited to minimum length.
