An electric motor includes a rotor having 10×N (N is an integer equal to or larger than 1) magnetic poles and a stator including 9×N teeth. A center tooth includes a first main body and a first tooth end portion. A downstream-side tooth includes a second main body and a second tooth end portion. The electric motor satisfies TCR>TBR, where TCR is a maximum length of the first upstream-side portion in the first upstream-side radial direction of the first tooth end portion and TBR is a maximum length of the second upstream-side portion in the second upstream-side radial direction of the second tooth end portion.

A rotor includes a plurality of cores stacked in an axial direction, a permanent magnet, and a nonmagnetic resin. The plurality of cores include a magnet insertion hole, a first opening communicating with one end of the magnet insertion hole in a circumferential direction, and an indent part communicating with the first opening and indented in the circumferential direction. The permanent magnet is disposed in the magnet insertion hole. The nonmagnetic resin is provided in the first opening and the indent part.

A motor has a sufficient heat dissipation function even when a non-magnetic material having low thermal conductivity is used for a shaft of a motor using a consequent pole rotor. A motor includes: a stator; a consequent pole rotor including a rotor core and a magnet; a casing housing the stator and the rotor; a shaft including a non-magnetic material and fixed to the rotor; and heat dissipation blades that are a first heat dissipation promoting means that rotates with the shaft. This promotes heat dissipation through a heat dissipation path from an inside of the motor through the shaft, preventing problems due to overheat in the motor.

A motor includes a rotor, a stator, and a magnetic pole position detection element to detect a position of a magnetic pole of the rotor. The rotor includes a resin magnet having a first orientation and a second orientation, and a shaft fixed to the resin magnet, and the first and second orientations and are different from each other in a radial direction.
